I think my current theory is it has to do with the natural self-deprication that a lot of people in subcultures have. It's both embracing the oddity and sort of flinging their possible self-loathing in their face because that's just how that sorta mindset works. It sorta maybe coats the self-inflicted medicine, in a way, and is cool to look at. Might be gratifying to own. But I could be very drastically over thinking it :P

I honestly don't know either. I guess because it can be 'fun' to have something like that? It's odd and intriguing to some people I suppose.

Probably. The bright colors and sparklyness are undeniably appealing to some people, more so than the actual subject of...well..dismemberment.

I've not seen that variation of it. Guy I know has the Gummy Guts artbook. It's... interesting and oddly tasty looking.

I haven't seen that in artwork. . . But I have seen a lot of commercial media do that. Lollipop Chainsaw, Aquateen Hunger Force, Kingsmen, No More Heroes, Bushido Blade II, just to name a few.

So while I can't say with certainty, I would wager the intent is to shift the tone from guro to silly and stupid.
