Whatever happened to Karabiner and Dr. Comet
8 years ago
I was going through "old school" furry artists that I remember from my first days of stumbling upon VCLart.net while trying to learn what a "Furry" was back in middle school.
I found FoxxFire thanks to someone from my previous journal, but there are two artists that were everywhere on furry image boards that seemed to have just "died" as time went on.
Karabiner (not the hyper fox, the uniquely styled artist)
Dr. Comet.
Kara had/has an extremely unique style. I think he also did the TRUMP Kemono comics that were some of the first comics I found online on a japanese website i couldn't navigate back to even if I could have read the site. Japanese, Korean, and Chinese artists have a distinct style that most of them share, but if Kara is/was and Asian artist you could tell, but there was a fluidity and subtly to his style with how he blended and rounded edges to add depth to characters. And Comet had/has some amazing designs and a quality of style that made me consider buying his DVDs. Remind me a lot of the art from Bagi. The thing is, both of theses artists were talented so I have been wondering if they went fully into professional work and dropped the furry thing all together (I've seen other artists that may have one or four pieces on FA and a journal or bio that they are large scale illustrators that make huge pieces for movies or companies, or something) or if they...maybe....died. I don't know.
If anyone knows it'd be great to get a bit of closure. No sightings of the two artists in like a decade save for people posting old works they got from them or their own works that were inspired by them.

As for the mia artists, i think their rl work/activities eventually superseded their output. One of them is a dentist even, i think. So.. yeah.
Take care, yap atcha later!
