Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2017 Canceled
WELL
There it is folks. RMFC 2017 has been officially canceled for this year.
From Sorin himself---
From the desk of the chairman
The furry community and Rocky Mountain Fur Con have always strived to be a place of inclusion; a place where furs from all walks of life, differing religious, political, social and personal views can come together to celebrate the thing that we have in common, the love of our fandom.
Recently, members of our community have taken it upon themselves to bring in external influences of hate, intolerance, and stubborn refusal to compromise. This movement has grown into a community that promotes violence, and it is because of that, it is with deep regret that I make the following announcement:
Last month, we were faced with a sudden and drastic increase in security costs amounting to more than a third of our entire existing operating budget. This cost increase stemmed directly from the very public threats of violence against one another by members of this community, as well as the negative backlash from misinformation spread about the convention, its staff and attendees. Therefore, Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2017 is officially canceled. I will no longer continue to subject my staff and our community to the lies, hate, violence and slander that was disseminated.
All resources relating to the Convention will be used to close our costs and tax liability, and the remainder will be utilized to provide refunds as funds allow to attendees and vendors. Any remainder will go to our standing Charity, Freedom Service Dogs.
As the Chairman of RMFC, I would like to express my personal thanks to my Directors, Staff, the hotels we have worked with, and most of all, our attendees and the city of Denver for ten great years. We had hoped to see this convention continue to grow and flourish but that is no longer an option.
Final writings from the Desk of the Chairman.
Thank you, and Goodnight.
Sorin,
Chairman, Rocky Mountain Fur Con
So there you have it. Just thought I'd let you all know. I'm super disappointed, as I'm sure a bunch of you are.
Please try to keep the comments civil.

Spoiler alert: It wasn't "rising security costs." Someone hasn't been paying their taxes...

A lot of this could probably have been averted if you had used one of the widely available online templates or writing guides for cease and desist letters available on line rather than drafting one using SovCit (for lack of a better word although I know you consider it a oxymoron, I do apologize no offence meant) language. Or had this drafted and signed by an actual attorney if you or Kahuki were unwilling to sign something containing conventional legal language. Im not that familiar with the Sovereign Citizen Movement and what it's adherents consider to be personally permissible when it comes to legal documents.
Perhaps some of this mess can be cleared up if you or others on the board can release documentation of the hotel's requirement for the increased security and associated costs as well as the convention's good faith effort to negotiate it. I imagine the DPD would have provided a verifiable invoice for their off duty services.
Perhaps more transparency regarding what happened can help resolve this situation rather than accusations from either side.
(For the record I'm not affiliated or involved with either side, just a convention attendee who is disappointed by this situation and conduct by those involved.)
They also have a telegram chat.
would like to know where its going to be too
This was my only local con. What a shame.
Strange how everyone's eating it up too...
My personal, sworn oath is "do no harm" and my honorable duty is to repair any harm I may cause unintentionally.
With regards to feeds or blogs of other people; I do not know the full extent of the slander, defamation, impairment of contract obligations and other possible damages as a direct result of the actions of other people such as writing: "you're like the Jews just booting Pakistani's out of their homes."
I do intend to author a lot more details about my personal experiences sometime in the future but this is all I have for now-

"We fail to recognize your humble attempt to deal with the devil by way of an order from the Chief Executor's Office and this is BAD!"
"humble attempt", i.e. making threats and writing demands in an authoritative voice which you have no right nor position to use.
"an order" i.e. a request phrased as a threatening order, seeing as "cease and desist orders" aren't a real thing
"chief executor's office" i.e. not a real thing - "chief executor" is not a formal position in any sense - did you mean chief executive officer? That's a different thing!
"the devil" i.e. some person on twitter who was replied to with threats of gun violence, which is obviously the actual event which caused the increased security costs.
"And of course; the worms fail to actually bring any solutions such as grant us opportunity to actually correct any alleged mistake we made while exercising our rights ."
"the worms", i.e. concerned members of the furry community
"solutions", i.e. not sending fake legal letters, banning nazi paraphernalia, etc., none of which the RMFC or any of its representatives made any attempt to do.
"alleged mistake", i.e. very intentionally, not mistakenly sending fraudulent, pseudo-legal threats.
"exercising our rights", i.e. attempting to infringe on the rights of others, using threats of '''legal action''' to silence critics.
You're welcome!
As for the rest of us who do have a vested interest with regards to what is actually going on with our fellow furs and our furry family; don't forget to keep checking back as my investigation continues and additional information is revealed and logged and some new information was just revealed to me today-
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8174783/
And yes, I do speak for myself including my words, writings and actual actions including but not limited to this investigation and donating of over $20,000.00 in cash, goods and services including volunteer work at YOUR conventions for the past 10+ years including FC, AC and RMFC.
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to respond to your concerns and shine revealing lights on these simple truths.

this was the only FurCon in my areas that I could afford to go to
The latest news may be found here and will be updated as new information becomes available throughout the investigation.

PS: The letter in question was merely a humble attempt by our fellow furs to deal with a very horrible situation on the private side. And it does not contain my signature or the words "Attorney", "Lawyer", "Sovereign" or "Citizen".
And if you are looking for somebody who actually does defend criminals including sex offenders then; you want a card carrying attorney as they do this regularly and are paid well doing it. That is IF you really want a legal opinion from a person such as that.
Thank you once again for these excellent opportunities to respond and bring these truths for the Benefit of all.

How may I help you?

Sincerely,
Salvia, the Josef Mengele of the furry fandom (am I in your club yet?)
Let me be very clear:
Stop talking about me and do not contact me in any way.
However, the point is null because there would be verifiable record of all threat related calls if any of you actually bothered talking to the police and hotel instead of making up things. So I suggest you all do that rather than make things up on speculation and publicly accuse me of filing false police reports.
Nice statement. It appears I asked some tough questions which would have had incriminating answers. Qui tacet consentire videtur.
I just got your comment and no argument here as I do accept your opinion that adult sexual orgies or the entire state of Colorado is "bad".
I also accept any verifiable, certified proof of claim authored under pains and penalties of perjury.
The historical facts:
1. Those events of MANY years ago were for adults and regularly included sexual orgies involving many furs of that time period just as does happen at many fur meets and conventions all around the world.
2. There does not appear any record of a verifiable criminal complaint.
Is it POSSIBLE that ulterior motives may exist?
Such as: A desire to use law enforcement as a weapon by way of a false report just as it appears was used to divide, conquer and eventually destroy RMFC effecting 1,500+ furs.
And hopefully nobody else is now claiming to be a party to or perpetrator of such crimes.
I personally do not endorse or deny human sexuality including numerous deviations or perversions of it. This is merely a fact of life.
I take no position and do not care about the sexuality of others and of course; my mere question is not a position when I merely asked:
"Really? Is it possible....."
And yes indeed. :)
I do regularly exercise our right to privacy including our right to appear in our private capacity and identify ourselves as such in our private capacity.
Are there any objections to the exercise of our rights including our right to identify our self and act in our private capacity ANYWHERE we might go such this great vessel of Furaffinity?
If you do object to your rights then; I have no argument for that either.

It appears to be mostly correct with only a few errors.
Me and Kahuki do not know who the "Gonzalez" person is who appears to be speaking against the board's original vote and approval to send a letter containing very specific language including: ...appears as False statements issued... "...potentially damaging..." "...possible class action..." "...potential crimes." "...potential defamation..." "...may rise to the level of felonious activities..." "...apparent defamation..." "...may result in administrative remedy..."
And I agree; attending a fur-meet is not consent to do anything you do not want to do in Colorado.
And if any particular event actually is a bunch of people getting all horny and crawling over each other and this is NOT what a person wants to do then the person is not held against his will if he wants to leave that entire group of people doing their thing. As he described it, this was a group thing and Kahuki was merely one of the persons there among many. On the other hand, if a person is not protesting or otherwise acquiesces then yes; the legal maxim of Qui tacet consentire videtur cannot be avoided.
Yes indeed, VERY tough. But the questions are not tough.
What IS tough is trying to get down to the true facts of these matters.
This is what happens when we ASSUME and SPECULATE based on a HEARSAY regarding a meet that Kahuki has not attended in at least TEN YEARS.
And we do not know the motives of the complainer. We do not know the context such as a possible "clothing optional" meet for adults which yes, IS a regular fur meet I am aware of that is currently on the regular schedule SO; we simply do NOT know all the facts including many other possibilities not mentioned.
Please bring forth the verifiable evidence (proof of claim) of the alleged crime BEFORE the statute of limitation expires in the form of a proper affidavit, eye witness or other evidence such as a recording and it can be investigated or forwarded to the correct Office of the proper authorities.
Send your verifiable evidence to:
