How'd you come up with the concepts for your characters?

Jefferson is the more realistic sona of myself. The idea behind him being a union soldier came from the fact that I reenact the Civil War as a hobby and I'm hoping to use him as a medium to portray my personal experiences at some of the events that I reenact along with some historical fiction added in through story and art. His full name (also the name of the soldier I portray at events) is a name I read in a novel, which was Jefferson Davis Bussey (named after the confederate president because my character's father fought under Davis in the Mexican American war)

Sarah Manchester I came up with because any good civil war story needs some romance. I was inspired to make her a paint horse with blond hair and blue eyes from Rain, the paint mare from the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. They way she was animated and rendered was amazing and she has always been one of my favorite characters.

Cool. There's a little plack near my house were a Civil War mount is said to be buried. I think he had a similar name.
