Calling All Artists!
Live by sword, draw by the stylus!
We’re looking for creative, talented, and courageous artists from across the realm to contribute art for the FA con book! Our theme this year is medieval fantasy - dragons, knights, warriors, and wizards! Let your creativity come through with sneaky thieves, brave heroes or daunting dragons!
We'll display submissions on the FA United site, the best of the best in our official con book and a collection of all entries in a future Fur Affinity news post!

I'd love to give this a try :3
i look forward to more contests hosted thru the website in the future!! this is a grand idea!
This will be my favourite phrase for this year, I swear... I used it on breakfast, trees and other stuff already too, lmao. xD
I have a question: May I submit/participate even if I'm not able to attend to the con? In the case (a very distant possibility) that I win a reward could I forward it to someone else who could go?
I'm participating then :D Thanks Fender.
Take my profile pic for example-I'd only been drawing about a year when I drew that. I'm a lot better now than I was then and I don't even draw that often. I'd be a lot better if I followed my own advice. Just believe in yourself. I do. You can do it!
What if I offer to run the same panel multiple times xD
I did make the offer to do my think multiple times anyhow, or at least make it available :P
Nah, one's enough.
or are you giving away three individual basic level passes as prizes to separate people?
do you mean things like Disney etc.
or peoples personal characters?
I was thinking of doing a massive YCH would that be acceptable?
Really, though I get that it could be considered free advertising for the artist but con staff should pay artists for their contributions. 'Exposure' doesn't pay bills.
I love the favorites snowball that happens on here - that's honestly how most of my small watcher base found me - through other peoples' favorites xD
I don't know if you do any marathons or anything of the sort - but you PAY to get into them and aren't guaranteed anything - FA could easily go that route if they so desired to - and people would pay I'm sure. The artist(s) of the works are getting their art tossed around by the most prominent furry-art site out there for free - People will see it. I'm just failing to see how that isn't a grand outcome, even if you don't win. Free advertisement is one of the hardest things to get in any form of business, and it can only result in profits staying the same or increasing.
In the end of the day, it is the individual artist's decision to enter or not to, there is no reason in the world why anyone should be paid for simply entering though.
They could easily just take the prizes they're offering and auction them off for the highest bidder - which would have zero community involvement, unlike this way of doing it, which allows everyone to get some attention, whether they win or not ^.^ I don't see how FA is getting free promotion out of doing a contest on their own site? I must be missing something here - you don't promote yourself on your own site and at your own conventions xD
There isn't always someone out to get you, sometimes there are things that are literally just supposed to be friendly competition / good fun ^.^
They also aren't getting out of paying people - as they pay for everything up front (venue, site costs / upkeep, permits, ect ect ect) - Not everything is a conspiracy xD
Gonna ask just in case, though -- would there be any way to donate that registration to someone else? EDIT: Nevermind, this was answered elsewhere!
*whispers do winning artists get a copy of the book too?*
Also, I know the image has to be PG-13, but can we have violence, like mêlée? There won't be blood.
I always did find it a problem in contests of Visual vs non-visual not getting the same treatment.
It ended up them needing a specific contests for each type of art. Visual, Musical, and Literature.
They may be rare, but the opportunities are out there. Or just do what a lot of people do & post on reddit forums - there's plenty of people who have done that, amassed a following, & ended up writing a book
Personally as a member of both I'm glad there's a lot of crossover because I think the brony fandom getting people more into writing and music is helping this one in that regard. I saw a jump in the popularity of my poems when the brony fandom started getting big and that's where a lot of my watchers came from.
They have to do that. Otherwise it's not legal for them to host your art. They'd be infringing on your copyright and in violation of the law without your granting of that license. It's in their best interest not to violate it as doing so would have massive legal repercussions for them. You sign the same agreement and grant the same license on any website you sign up to.
You can give your Con Ticket to someone else.
Like, hello? Not only American citizens use this site.
Just curiously, if I did win, would it be possible to mail me a copy of the book so I can have a physical copy of it LOL
Why do you taunt Yiffy so?
Not to downplay the idea of this - because I like this kind of participation-based community thing, but the way this is structured it pretty much excludes anyone who isn't a U.S. citizen.
I mean - as a non-U.S. citizen - why would I want to participate if the prizes mean absolutely nothing to me?
So good idea; Do more like this, but be more inclusive - and consider your prizes/rewards more carefully, please.
When are you going to do the username changing thing. Maybe do something like what Weasyl is doing... Have people send you an email or a ticket to get their names changed. I really don't want to abandon my accounts anymore! I'm sick of all the moving just to have a different name.
Guys it's an issue that needed to be solved for a long time. Instead of wasting money on doing a convention, just pay your tech support to get the feature finally happening.
k thnx
I can upload .PNGs anywhere else and they come out fine.
When I upload here they have black backgrounds that make my shitty stuff look even shittier.
What's the issue?
Are color submissions accepted, or is lineart/greyscale preferred?
I'd imagine a color pic would be accepted, but the effort may be redundant if the conbook is only going to be B/W or grey-tone.
