Looking for expert SNES modders (with prices!)
Hey guys.
As you may or may not know, I'm a retro gaming enthusiast. So I've been working on a sizeable collection and gaming room for quite a number of years now. Art may be my job, but retro gaming is my hobby. Games are to me what the "lawn" is to Hank Hill.
At this point, the next "big" upgrade for my setup would be fixing the "vertical line" issue on my SNES... which appears usually on a black screen, or in games that feature a lot of dark areas.
If you're a modder, or a stickler for retro quality, you know what this is, and that it can be fixed by soldering a couple of capacitors.
https://store.retrofixes.com/collec.....tuneup-service
Normally I'd just visit that link above, but according to their FAQ, they do not offer services to anyone outside the US.
I don't know anybody locally with the skill to do this, nor do I know of any professional modding services that are based in Canada.
So... If you are an expert modder, or you know of an expert modding service that offers its services to Canadians..... please speak up! I have money.

Also, the guy on the website above doesn't seem to take orders often, which means that I could be without my SNES for months.
There's many places that can repair electronics, and usually, if they're unsure as to what to do, they'll do some research themselves. So, you could have it fixed at a multitude of places I would think.
Bear in mind that if you do get someone to fix the machine professionally, you should look into a complete recap service. It's only a matter of time before the other surface-mount electrolytic capacitors leak and corrode the mobo, as is common for any computer more than 20+ years old. If any of the solder joints look crusty or green, it's something that needs to be done ASAP.
Now with go-faster stripes. Huzzah!
Speaking to Waccoon's comment. It's generally recommended to have proper test equipment, and a thorough understanding of that equipment, and the electronics you want repaired. But as someone who routinely fixes household electronics and is totally not a professional, you can often get by with a good set of instructions, and the comfort of knowing that if something goes awry, your console is fairly easy to replace.
In fact, at the prices you seem willing to spend, you would probably be able to purchase a new one that doesn't have the problem. You might again have to seek specific models, and ask annoying questions to the sellers. But it is an option.
