Actually nothing, really.

I don't know. I thought, people do not like animeesque styles.

The only valid time I see anime looked down on is when people use it as a crutch while also aspiring to be a professional. It's actually something that goes for drawing in any style before learning how to properly draw, because proper drawing ability translates to better drawing skills overall and flexibility in what a person can draw. Good art teachers don't like people who draw anime or cartoons for this reason, too.
Of course, I don't think this applies to hobbyists because a hobby is just for fun.
