My coldendences, I really hope everything will be okay regarding your sick family member. As far as people being inconsiderate regarding requests, you do not owe anyone anything and people cannot get upset if you're unable to do something free for them in your spare time. You are doing it from your kindness, so people need to either learn to be patient or accept no as an answer and not throw tantrums.
