Battlefield players, help me out here

This is the journal header. Nothing to see here, get to reading the actual journal yah goof!
This is in regards to any Battlefield game, they're all pretty much the same. And this is about the multiplayer, not like I need to specify that. Having said that this is mostly all from my experiences with Battlefield 1.
Anyway, can anybody tell me the appeal of Battlefield Multiplayer? I've been playing Battlefield 1 the last couple days after it was gifted to me, and it's baffled me what people find in it....that won't stop me playing again for several hours again and again this week X.X
So lemme run down my general thoughts. There are several momentary satisfactions to be had in say popping a headshot, or finishing off a guy with just a slither of health left yourself, or heck just throwing down health packs and reviving team mates.
The weapons have a good weighty feel to them, shots firing with a satisfying *THUNK* so it's feels immensely good landing kills just in general.
The problem is all this little moments of entertainment are relentlessly book-ended by massive frustrations. The majority of my time playing the game is spent either trekking across open country just to get to where the action is, or laying flat on my back, dead because I was shot by someone I couldn't have possibly seen. Usually it's the former very swiftly followed by the latter.
But that's just one annoyance. The weapons. I know I just praised them a moment ago but that was praising how they FELT, not how they actually played. I know this is going to invite so many people to spam me with the 'ol "Git gud!", but if I had a penny for every shot that the cross-hair was dead centre on my target but the hit simply didn't register I'd be a rich Wuffie I tell you that! And no it's not even damage drop-offs at work. I shot a guy in the back, three times, with a trench gun, well within optimum range. Only one shot seemed to register.
Time and time again I find shots simply not hitting, again even if I'm lined up.
Classes take an eternity to make any kind of level up progress, which is further annoying since there is so little weapon variety available from the start. The weapons that you can unlock from the start are 2-3 different variants of the default weapon of each class, or one other different weapon. The problem I have with this? If I want different weapons for that class, I need to play it, putting up with weapons that I don't like. Even if I just do support stuff like, handing out aid or ammo, or blowing up tanks or class specific stuff, it really makes little difference the class will still level up with the speed of a narcoleptic snail.
Speaking of weapons once again, the absolute abundance of automatic weapons really pisses in my cornflakes. Yes I realise there WERE some automatic weapons in WW1, but they're far far too abundant in comparison to everything else. SMGs are the most egregious offender, since it seems Assault is the most popular class.
Well that concludes my dumb rant on why I find Battlefield multiplayer immensely frustrating. I know some will read this and probably think "What? But these are just small issues". Regardless of whether they're big or small issues to you, they are big issues to me. Having said all this, I'll no doubt boot up the game again tomorrow because despite all this, I want to like it. It does have a lot of good going for it.

In terms of "lots to learn", well BF1 is a modern military shooter wearing a fancy hat. There's really not much involved beyond good shooting. I could still enjoy the game if my contributions outside of just shooting were enjoyable, but it's simply not.
I'll give it more time but if my experience thus far is any indicator, even IF I can get into it midway through a match the general feelings of enjoyment are fleeting at best as it quickly devolves back into frustration and sheer boredom.
Well that's pretty much a given. But that's so loosely worded you might as well be telling me "Use the thing on the thing" xD
I appreciate the incentive however. Even so I doubt I'll bother touching the campaign, to say nothing of how ridiculous it is with it's individual heroics and one man army nonsense.
The biggest reason is that they continuously cater more and more to absolute morons that have 0 skill. That's why there are so many automatic weapons and why someone skilless with an automatic can still outgun even the most skilled players that choose to use semi-autos. Also the same reason bolt actions can OHK to the body, which for gameplay's sake should never happen.
Currently there is no appeal for anyone who is actually good at FPS games. There is only appeal for casual players who will play no more than an hour or two a week and don't expect to be good at the game, and those who are simply skilless and are just there to enjoy the scenery and 'feel' instead of the actual gameplay.
I will, however, tell you that if you are having problems with dying before ever seeing action, you should probably switch squads and find a squad that's actually positioned relatively nicely and spawn on actual squadmates rather than spawn or objectives. Take advantage of being able to spawn as gunners in vehicles to use as a spawnpoint as well, just don't be the idiot that spawns in and shoots randomly.
As for hits not registering, Battlefield has a huge issue with people purposely playing out of region to gain an unfair advantage. Notoriously you'll have mostly Brazillians and Japanese go into US and European servers, as they get used to their lag compensation while you're used to crisp, better gameplay which is interrupted when you have to shoot one of them and you don't realize you have to aim way in front of them, and god help you if they're jumping around or moving erratically. I've been telling EA ever since BF3 especially they they need to implement ping limits on servers, yet they refuse to do so since these same out of region exploiters are the ones that give EA a large portion of money and they do not want to lose that crowd.
The final huge issue with Battlefield is the community, plain and simple. Years of marketing to the CoD and casual crowd turned successful. Nothing but idiots that want to grief or just look around instead of play the objective now.
EDIT: Okay there's MANY more issues than just these, but these are main starting points. I seriously cannot recommend playing BF1 at all. It was at least tolerable in the closed Alpha stages when the general community did not have their hands on this game.
"Let me be the first to tell you Battlefield 1 is the epitome of how the Battlefield series has gone to shit."
Even that aside, I tried playing BF4's multiplayer and I had pretty much the same feelings as I've had here. So as far as I'm concerned the individual games are irrelevant because they're so interchangeable. Thus the problems are all the same.
"The biggest reason is that they continuously cater more and more to absolute morons that have 0 skill etc..."
Well that explains the egregious abundance of fucking SMGs...I can do decent, okay at best with the self loading rifles, on a good match, but it doesn't mean shit if someone with an SMG just charges me faster than I can hit him and hip spray my general vicinity.
As for bolt actions, I've not had a single OHK on body shots. Unless the target is already softened up. Personally I'm okay with them NOT getting one hit kills on body shots, because it forces precision aiming. Problem I DO have however is that even within optimum range, targets that are dead centre of my crosshair just don't get hit. Some dude standing perfectly still? Game's like "What!? No I wasn't looking, doesn't count!" I've all but given up even bothering with Scout given how often that bullshit happens.
Regarding all the spawn stuff, well I spawn on squadmates whenever available and try spawning close to something that's happening. But that still doesn't rectify the whole being shot by some fucker I couldn't have possibly seen, even if he was in front of me. Really I swear every other player has lazer eyes or something since even when I'm taking it careful and popping into cover as I advance some fucker ALWAYS has a bead on me...like what the hell am I even supposed to do?
People server skipping? Well I've not seen people who look like they're lagging out so plplhphph *blows a raspberry, shrugs*
Needless to say I got gripes. Pretty big gripes. Like I said in the journal I want to like the game, it does have ingredients that appeal to me individually. But when it's all cooked together the pie it results in? I just can't stomach it @.@
