I know I'm an aloof person, and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that in a journal at some point. (Fuck if I can remember.)
I am wondering, for the artists who dare reply:
What keeps you motivated?
What is the space you designate for work, like?
I'm kind of in a mood where I want to create, but some days.. I just have no energy to jump in.
I've tried a few things:
* Separating my work space from everything else
* Using a business, or area outside the house as a work space
* Podcasts
* Music
* YouTube background noise
* Twitch Streams
Some of these have worked (Listening to a story works pretty well, as long as I don't have to decode an author's writing, so sadly William Gibson is out), but I've had the habit of just binging on them, and it has pretty much warn out the Creepy Pasta/Horror Stories a little bit (besides, I don't know if I want to hear a story about children being tortured when trying to draw smut) ... so I'm kind of curious. It'd be neat if I made this a full-time job .. well, okay, I DOUBT I'll get to that point. But I wanna be a better artist, I think. As is always the goal of people who like/pursue art.

"What keeps you motivated?"
Goals. I set small goals along the way to larger goals. As I complete them, I track what percentage of my overall goal I'm at and keep going. The idea of completing something big is very motivating and chipping away at that percentage is a great feeling. Just trying not to raise my expectations too high can be a bit of a challenge at times because the stuff I do will take time.
"What is the space you designate for work, like?"
Messy. The most productive people typically don't have time to stay all that organized because they are busy working on their dream project. People often look at my space and wonder how the heck I can get anything done in such an environment, but believe me, I actually get a lot done when I worry less about what my space looks like. Obviously not something for everyone, but it works for me.
