"Forever Filly"
This one had its moments. Return of the Rarity crying cycle that we've not seen in a while. Following, it had its moments with the plot. The double storyline, which has been used a lot so far this season, worked the best in this episode. It didn't feel like filler to fill the 22 minutes of the episode. Overall, needed a bit more interesting writing. However, it was a good episode.
My grade: B
Advantages: Cute episode, good ending to the episode with a good meaning to it, return of a school age foal with another new one as well
Drawbacks: Writing was a bit boring

"Parental Glidance"
While it's good that we FINALLY got to see Dash's actual parents in the series, they are completely annoying and obsessive, and not to mention EMBARRASSING for Rainbow. There's a difference between being supportive and obsessive, and RD's parents are in the realm of obsessive. However, this episode, which was frontloaded with the annoying obsession of RD's parents, it has a very nice ending. Overall, this episode was ruined by the annoying and obsessive way that RD's parents were in about the first 2/3rds of the episode. The ending doesn't completely redeem it, but it does make it much better.
My grade: C+
Advantages: A nice ending, nice flashback of RD's childhood
Drawbacks: The first 2/3rds of the episode.

"Hard to Say Anything"
So, we've got yet ANOTHER episode where a member or members of the CMC play a big roll. It's not a very bad episode but it's not a very good one either, at least through the middle section. There is a totally unnecessary song in the middle of the episode that does nothing but to act as filler for the episode. I liked this episode because it shows a side of Big Mac that we've rarely seen in the duration of the show. The ending is absolutely ADORABLE. May the shipping commence!
My grade: B+
Advantages: A very cute ending, new ship for Big Mac
Drawbacks: The song in the middle of the episode is pretty much filler.

Next new episode: Honest Apple, airing in Canada May 14th, 2017, will watch and review most likely on Monday.

So, of those three, I'd have to say, sadly, that the Rarity episode was the weakest of the trio of episodes.
I would think that Rarity wouldn't be quite so out of touch with how things were. The part with Wipporwill was more understandable, it can be hard to realize that your pet has grown up and needs upgrades, so to speak. (I've NO idea why Rarity thought that calling a retired mare back to make a microscopic ice cream was a good idea. It reminded me of that scene with her and Pinkie Pie going through those identical restaurants with terrible menus that were that way to appease the food critic)
I for one liked how Dashie's parents were. They apparently were around and supportive of their little pony, unlike the rest of the Mane 6's parents.
(AJ's, presumed dead, Flutter's, even shyer than she was, Pinkie's, Amish and out of touch with pretty much everything Pinkie does, Rarity's, ditch Sweetie Belle with her and in the flashbacks of Rarity's & Sweetie Belle's they're not around, Twily's, ditch her at Magic School and are rather absent. Spike's, MIA, and Glimmer's, where were they when her best friend left her?)
So, while I'll agree that they were embarrassing, their actions were shown to have helped Dashie to become the awesome Pegasus she is today. You saw how she climbed from "Participant" to #1 thanks to their praise and encouragement, right?
I'm really hoping that the episode was a tentpole episode for this season and that it means 2 things, the Mane 6's parents will all get to be together in an episode (like Father's Day for instance) and that the references to past villains of Lightning Dust and Wind Rider mean they will be back for revenge.
Any time Big Mac gets to have more lines/development, I love it!
While I do think that this episode was rather obvious as to what he Should have done, I still enjoyed the journey they took getting there. (though I couldn't help but yell at them that she wasn't under a sleeping spell! Still fun to see Mac puckering up. ^_^)
Also, I nearly forgot that there had been another song this season, the one of the Mane 6 back in episode 2 of this season was the only other one, right?
Sorry that was a lot to type out at once...
Yes, while their constant praise helped Dash elevate herself, I felt it was over the top at times in the episode. This is the mane (See what I did there?) reason that I really didn't care for them.
Hard to say anything is my favorite Big Mac episode due to him showing his true self to win the heart of Sugar Belle. And yes, there's only been 2 songs up to that point. BTW, you mentioned AJ's parents. I don't wanna spoil anything, but we could very well see the origins of them later in the season after the summer hiatus.
