Also, corrected that mistake. Good gods, that's totally my fault too - I put that tag on and somehow didn't even see the boobage. >_<
Now I have to say....being a positive person myself and taking the best of everything so to speak, I know that life can be hard and sometimes you need to be realistic in life and not make expectations so high to the point where it's over-romanticized. But it's not often you hear that come from an artist and I have to say....it was a pretty crazy wake up call.
That being said, we all have our own lives to lead and not everything will work out for one person the way it does for someone else. Some get through life with less worries, and others go through with much more stress. Some artists become known, and others fly under the radar. Bartuc makes an excellent point about this. Not to say I don't enjoy drawing what I draw, nor to say I'm not happy with the commissions I've taken, because I enjoy the subjects I render very much.....but I get it....some subjects are just taken a lot more easier and for granted than just looking at content that doesn't resemble a particular liking or fetish...and it really is hard to get noticed that way unless you have a knack for creating really vivid and beautiful imagery.
Nevertheless, it's good to see things from all sides and I'm actually quite happy we got this interview. All in all, I wish the best for Bartuc and to all the artists on FA and hope they find their way along wherever their paths lead. ^^
I think the ultimate trick for an artist (or writer) is to find two particular things; something that tickles their muse often enough, and empathy to some degree with the fanbase. To know that your work pleases someone is uplifting - even if it's not your particular thing, it's still "a thing" for someone, and that gives it value. For the muse, well, that's a bit more personal - some artists need to product a lot for themselves to keep their muse happy, while others might only need to give it a personal thing once and a while. The trick is finding that happy balance between personal muse-feeding work, and work that's more "business" related. And all of that is very personal - very different for every individual.
This is why I really love doing these highlights though - it's good for people to see that there are complex individual souls behind all of the work that they enjoy. All too often people don't know much about the artists, just their work, so it's nice to humanize them. Besides, knowing what an artist enjoys doing means folks who pay attention to that can request a picture that not only is something they want, but something the artist will enjoy doing as well - then BOTH parties come away much happier from the effort. :)
My favorite from this Post was Etuix's work - such a cute image, and the bursts of colour are really really nice! :D
Hooray for happy coincidences, haha!
