Those on Twitter saw me mention it before. If you missed, it means I have decided that any future images will be done only as pencils. Any color images will just be ref pics, where flat colors are all one really needs.

Coloring has become quite a pain in the tail. Mainly because my coloring has barely progressed in more than 20 years, and I am really tired of my process. I know it is just a matter of program settings (whether Photoshop, Painter, Clip Studio, et al). But I've never been smart enough to figure out many things on my own without instructions. I've tried other processes without success, and almost all tutorials and publications I've seen never go into details with regards to layer settings and/or brushes and brush settings. As if one could just "get it" by osmosis or ESP just from looking at a few steps and pics. :P

Pay to learn is another option. At $50+/hour, however, it is out of my budget. That is not to say I would like people to teach for minimum wage. Artists deserve much better compensation than that. It just means I have to look elsewhere. And I don't really know anyone personally to feel comfortable to ask for pointers (I would likely need a lot of them, and people certainly can use their time for other things).

I've seen a few people here do good stuff just in pencils, so I'll see about doing the same. that's how I used to draw before computers came into the picture (no pun intended).
