This message was announced via email. This is a taste/big bite of what you'd be receiving if you'd sign up. This was a little long for what's intended, but regarding commissions, you'd be getting info before the general public!Hello there!
This is JayeCreations first mailing list announcement! The below information is regarding the next commission opening, which is now confirmed to be June 2nd, 2017! We are probably going to try to send out the information to this mailing list between 12-2pm Eastern Standard Time, and the mass announcement between 3-5pm, so as promised; mailing list members will get a head start! These times may vary if we believe we are ready, so be flexible!
To keep things organized, here’s the all the information you’ll need if you plan on commissioning. If you have any questions, feel free to message or email them to us, but please make a separate email so other members aren’t spammed.
· Commission Process – Getting your slot/what to have prepared!
· Timeframe for completion
· Pricing/TOS
· Quick Mention of Difference between scalemail and fur commission
· Communication and what to expect
If you’re not on the mailing list but saw this message and want in on the good info, simply message us with your desired email to be added. This first message is quite long and future ones shouldn’t be as long.
Commission Process – Getting your slot!So what’s going to happen is we are going to release/send out information and the main thing to look out for is the link! We will be sure to make the link very obvious! Once you click on that, it will take you to a google form for you to input all of the information you’ll need for the commission. We highly recommend that this is done on a computer rather than mobile just because there’s a lot of information to go through and it can be easy to accidentally check box things that is not intended.
After submitting your form, we will be ready on our sides to immediately start communicating with those who are submitting forms. For this batch, we are taking on a loose “first come, first serve.” We will be reading the submitted forms in order but if we have absolutely no idea what you’re getting at in the form or it is very obviously not filled out properly, we may not contact you. We try very hard to make this process go over smoothly so it’s easy for you guys. Please be sure to read the Difference between scaled and fur commissions below for more details regarding that, especially if you’re a new buyer!
For clarity, slots are filled by person. For example, if one person wanted to get 5 pairs of gauntlets, they still only fill one slot.
If we accept your submission, we will immediately contact you, quickly confirm what you’ve requested, and if that goes over well, we will send you a paypal invoice! We only work with paypal when we are not at a convention. To complete the commission confirmation process, you must pay at least 50% of the total. This will confirm your slot, and queue placement will be determined by the order in which we receive payments. You’re more than welcome to pay more than 50% but that’s all we require. Our Terms of Service goes into depth regarding payment. A slot is technically not filled until we receive this payment. You could be the first person to fill out the form but be last on our queue if we don’t receive payment in a timely manner. This also goes in regards to even being included in our batch. Once we say we are closed, we most likely will not take any exceptions this time. If you are very adamant about wanting a slot in this batch, please be ready with payment so a situation doesn’t arise when we officially close.
Small reminder that even though we take on a lot of large item commissions, we absolutely value all of the small items as well! Smaller items give us a lot of variety to work with!
Timeframe for completionFor this commission batch, which will be labeled at the June Batch, we are going to take as many slots as it takes to keep us busy for 3-4 months. Another big factor going into this batch is it has the possibility of being one of the last ones we take this year. We have put in a bid on a vendors spot at a convention, and if we are accepted, we will have to close commissions for a while in order to make items for that convention. We will never pressure people into buying our stuff but we do want people to be aware, especially those wanting stuff last minute for an event.
If slots do not fill immediately, we will keep commissions open from June 2nd-9th. After the 9th, we will close unless we really want more. Once we close, it will take 2-3 weeks for all of our materials to come in. We are still a fairly small business and most likely won’t have enough inventory to immediately begin on commissions. Most likely, we will not be able to begin many, if any at all, until the beginning of July. Materials take a while and we have a lot of projects that we have prioritized for the Pittsburg convention Anthrocon., in which is going to take up the rest of June to complete.
Within the form, we will have a section asking if you have a special date that you’d like them by in regards to events or if you’re in the US Military, ect. We have an upmost respect for our military and want to make sure they get their items before possibly shipping out or deploying somewhere. We’ve had many family members and friends in the army and understand that craziness of it all. If you are involved, we will ask to see some ID proof of it so we aren’t bumping people up the queue on a whim.
Regarding the queue sheet, although we do try very hard to keep to the order of the sheet, we do tend to skip around. However, we will not take commissions if we know it’s going to take longer than 4 months, so don’t fret. You will get your custom item(s)!
Pricing/TOSPricing on items will not change from what is currently on our website. Keychains will now also be available for custom ordering if you’ve been debating on getting one!
Our Terms of Service will be up to date on June 2nd before we open! Be sure to go over it before filling out the sheet. A link to it will be available in the form and the announcements.
Quick Mention of Difference between scalemail and fur commissionThis has been a very recent but small issue we’ve been facing so we’ll discuss it quickly here. Scalemailing commissions are very different from furred commissions. Yes, we work with fur but that is rare and we don’t offer it for commissions. We are much better working with knitted scalemail. So with that, comes a different beast when commissioning.
We cannot simply look at a reference sheet and determine exactly what to do with it like we could with fur. The color options for scalemail are extremely more limited than the market for fur. This is why we now have 2 color sheets: one being our standard colors and other being nonstandard. We do not carry a lot of ‘in between’ colors, so that’s why we need you to be sure on the colors you’re chosing. We want you to be happy with your order, and not surprised that your tail ended up a plain red instead of the dark red that your reference sheet shows.
Another important aspect we face is how much information we can fit on a commission. An example of this would be that creating perfect circles on scalemail is impossible since we work in diagonals. This is very important to consider on tails, as the largest upper sections of tails is only 7-8 scales across each row. We can try our hardest to get your pattern just right but be prepared for simplification if you have a really complicated idea.
We do not have control over colors as we outsource them. Since we have no control over them and their prices, we have to go off how much labor we charge for your commission. Our base prices are set up very well for standard colored commissions; however, if you’re wanting something with nonstandard colors, expect a $10-200 price increase because they are very expensive to purchase. We’re sorry but we have no control over theringlord.com ‘s prices. However, we will say that their more expensive scales are gorgeous and have a mirror effect on all of them.
If you’re considering something with nonstandard colors, we highly recommend you contact us if you have a budget. Some simple spots on something can be $15 to get if they’re small, but if you’re wanting a large+ tail made entirely of them, you’re looking at $2-300 price increase.
Lastly, the “Cloth” that you’re seeing on our stuff is not cloth. It is acrylic based thick yarn that we are hand knitting. We are not cutting some fabric and attaching the scales. We hand knit these scales right into the yarn. So, when the commission form asks you for a yarn color, THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. If you put that you do not want a yarn color, we’re assuming you don’t want a commission. This is the only way we make our scalemail. Regarding yarn colors, we have a much larger variety of colors we can find for you! The only ones we can’t seem to find is colors that are slightly off of grey; example maybe would be a grey with a red or blue tint. Please be prepared with a HEX Color code for Yarn, Spikes, or Fleece Accent Pieces. We will provide a link to a hex color picker in the form.
Communication and what to expectWhen we are selecting which forms to further communication with, please be prepared to answer questions! We want to make sure we are understanding what you’re wanting. If we cannot understand what you want exactly, we may not want to risk making something and wasting your money. If you are not a fluent English speaker, we recommend either waiting to commission or finding a reliable friend for translation. This is not to exclude foreigners as some of our best buyers have been international, but we want to make sure we can accomplish want you’re wanting on the first try!
And finally, this is another issue that we’ve been dealing with since we began our business in Feb 2016: Please be professional when working with us. We absolutely love making your stuff and appreciate the commissions, but we are not your best friends. We do not want to roleplay, flirt, or have casual life conversations. We want to make you’re items with precision, accuracy and professionalism. So please, speak with us in complete sentences and as adults. If an issue arises during commission, we will kindly and respectfully ask you to please converse as an adult.
Thank you everyone who has signed up for our mailing list! We can’t wait until June and work with new people! If this mailing list is not something you’re no longer interested in, please message us with your email you’d like removed. We will not harass or question you about it. This message has been much longer than expected but we hope it was informative.
As always, if you need a quote or have questions after reading through this, feel free to contact us!
