Yes, HL will make you lose track of time easily.

Happens to me every time I walk into a bookstore or library.

I get that way when I get into a really good story, or some very specific computer games. Like, "Why is it 6 AM now? I thought it was 10 PM?"

There are two times. The "physical", universal one (which is not even absolute as Einstein showed us but at our scale it does not make any difference), and the felt, internal, subjective one. This last one is extremely elastic and often independant from the first one, and varies following a lot of factors, like if you are bored or busy (that was your case), if you are asleep, ill, and even following your age. When you are very young you did not have much life behind you so every minute looks like hours, and the more you age, the faster time seems to pass because compared to what you already lived, an hour, even a day is meaningless. There have been a lot of scientific studies around that subject, that surprisingly validated without any doubt that purely subjective fact - for example, if you ask a kid and an elder to count in seconds, the first will systematically count too fast and the last too slow (so in return the "real" time will be felt longer by the first and shorter by the second).
That's one good trick if you feel the time passes too slowly: occupy your mind, make it work and get distracted. Suddenly, it will "accelerate" like crazy.
