It's the most harmful flavour of conspiracy nut. Like even if it did have a chance to cause autism, which it doesn't, is that really worse than having polio, which my grandmother contracted as a toddler, paralysing her from the waist down for life? Or how about smallpox? Or any of the other horrendous diseases we've more or less eradicated?
As someone diagnosed as having ASD as well, I just find it personally hurtful. My condition is not the worst thing that could happen to a person, and hysterical parents flipping out over one study that originated from a guy who was paid off to say what he said versus literally reams of properly conducted studies saying that it has no causation just make me furious.
I swear to god I'm being dragged back into the dark ages by idiots like this. Any development we make towards having a nicer place to live is fought tooth and nail by reactionary, paranoid idiots and the worst part is, they win, because stupidity is perhaps the only unstoppable force there is.
