My Journey into the Furry Fandom

Youth
As a youngster, I loved anything that had to do with animals. I got tons plushies for my birthday and I would watch movies like The Lion King and Balto over and over again. As I grew older, my fascination only grew. I would read any book with an animal on it and would try to learn as many facts about those animals as I could.
The Fursuiter
When I was around 10 years old during a Halloween downtown trick or treat, I met my first (and only) fursuiter. It was a realistic white wolf partial that had a moving jaw and I got to take a picture with her. This sparked my interest in fursuits.
Therianthropy
It was around a year ago when I started to realize that my wolf identity wasn't a common thing. And yes it took that long.
I believed that I was a wolf for as long as I could remember. I would howl, bark, and growl and remember things from a different life. This made me look up "People who believe they are animals" on the internet and guest what came up: otherkin. I looked at the page and it described exactly what I have believe in my entire life, but what was also on that page made me the furry you know today. The page had furries mentioned on it so I checked it out. At the beginning of the page, I was quite interested with the fandom and was curious about joining, then they started talking about yiffing. This turned me off of the fandom for a while. But, as I continued to look up therian stuff the more furry stuff came up and then I finally decided to check out furries on Youtube.
Majira and Youtube
The first thing to come up was Majira Strawberry's newest video (at the time). And like anyone else that watches one of his videos, I fell in love with them. I went on a Majira binge-a-thon and found out the truth about the fandom. From then on, I would start making my fursona and get to this point of time right now.
So thanks to cartoons, therianthropy, and Majira, I became I furry.
i could almost mimic this save for the therianthropy part and how i found out about the fandom
but my main eye opener in the fandom was me jumping head first going to anthrocon as my first con XD
(and it's why my black panther fursona is no longer 'black')
i found out that the fandom existed from MTV's sex 2 k on it, though i read way between the lines of the story they was presenting. Though at the time, the troupes of it being mostly male, mostly white, mostly gay was a mindset when i went to AC until of course I was there and while there might be high percentage it wasn't nearly as lopsided as most media at the time 2001-2005 made it seem.
I found a lot of female furs, a fair bit of straight furs and met many furs many nationalities and races.
My own race tho made me go huh as the 8 i met and was able to talk to all had for some odd reason black colored fursonas.... and i was like wait what, so i tinged mine purple hue. But now i get flack for her being 'sparkle dog' like for doing it. I just wanted to stand out from even that hole. Took a few years to find black furs with other colored 'sonas tho.... most oddly enough seem to fall toward purple if not black XD
