*1. When did you start writing?*
Hmm... as editorial-wise I'd say when I was about 14 (6 years ago)
*2. First drafts: Handwritten, typed, or some combination?*
Typed. My handwriting is atrocious so being able to read my writing is a godsend
*3. Do you keep any kind of notebook or writer's journal, and if so, what kinds of things go into it?*
Yeah, I pour basically everything that pisses me off during the day, just so I have something to write about later.
*4. Do you set any quotas for your work (number of words per day, number of hours per day, etc.)? Why or why not?*
Nope, just like my drawings it's whenever I get a flash of inspiration/information
*5. Are you most comfortable writing short stories, novels, or something else?*
I write short stories, a lot of short stories. I've tried my hand in poems and epics... didn't turn out so good... ~w~
I am working on a novel though... it's still in the process of brainstorming tho since it's all over the place :\
*6. What's your favorite kind of story to write?*
Tragedies and ones that encompass a lot of fantasy and philosophy. I try to apply as much logic into tho, so it comes out really meh.
*7. Talk about a story of yours that was easy to write and one that was difficult to write, and why.*
The one that I posted here, between the lion and tiger, was both easy and difficult. I was basically thinking of that story for about..... 5-6 months, and when I finally got the patience to write the ideas just came flowing out.
*8. Which of your characters is closest to your sense of self? In otherwords, who do you most identify with in your own work to date?*
The tiger is my little bit of author-insert, and I know that's really awful. I have a lot of editorials that i have piled on my desk though so I might get a chance and post a few up one day. As writing goes, beyond blogs and journals, I haven't read full reviews on this site.
*9. What work are you most proud of right now?*
It's a work that I have on paper, but not on here. The first chapter of my "Endless Dream" novel thing I've been working on for a few years. I posted the prologue a while back, and it went through heavy changes, before I completely took it off my account :\
*10. What do you feel your strengths and weaknesses are as a writer?*
My patience to write in general. I hate sitting down for long moments at a time, and it's irritating for me to look at words considering that I am blind and don't wear glasses (like I should XD)
*11. Name a few writers who have influenced you or your work in some way.*
Nasu Kinoko, Steven King, Maxx Barry. I love Nasu's work, honestly it pretty much is main stream and a little otaku stereotypical reasoning to like Nasu Kinoko, but his writing is really amazing.
*12. Talk about something you've written that you later found embarrassing for some reason.*
The first version of the Prologue to Endless Dream. It was... just awful, it was really not what I wanted. It was just bleh/
*13. Talk about the earliest stories you remember writing. What were they about?*
I remember for my writing submit in my sophmore year I wrote a heaven's falldown revelations-esque epic which, really was horrible. The story was about a knight who was the last man on earth who challenged the heavens as a last stand sort of deal before the coming apocalypse.
*14. If you knew you would be successful, what would you most like to write?*
An Anthology to be honest. I just want to do a series of short stories, I really want to write a thesis paper.
*15. What inspires you?*
Human idiocy and paradoxes, though I feel a little bad. I'm really selfish and most of my inspiration actually comes from what I think about the world.
*16. How many projects do you tend to work on at once?*
Very little :P
*17. Who reads your work before it's released to the public? Do you have beta readers, a critique group, etc.?*
My hard-to-please friend Ty, who says both my drawings and my writing... are just awful XDDDD
*18. When you're not writing, what do you do for fun?*
Playing children's card games (seriously) that and drawing.
*19. Advice to other writers?*
Writing and art are similar in the sense that you just have to keep doing it. Even when you can't think of anything just start on something until you make something half decent. Look at it and start over again.
*20. What are you currently working on?*
Honestly nothing at the moment. My job as a clerk is what i'm working on at the moment.
*21. Share the first three sentences of a work in progress.*
The Guardian turned around and said to the young Seraph, "I'll leave the rest to you. Never forget and never lose what's beyond your field of vision. The bright future lies ahead and anything is possible, so don't die out here."
In a flash the world had changed. The once tainted battlefield had turned bright as the world around him had changed.
