you are definitely not the only one who is trying to reserve a room since minute one of the program starting.:P as for me it looks like we'll hit a motel three train stations away. train tickets are cheap,and berlin trains run all though the night.

Oh I've no doubt! I figured there's no harm in trying though, sometimes people accidentally book double or book a larger room just in case, or they decide that they won't (or can't) be going after all. The more places and people I ask the better the chance of perhaps finding something :3.

And yeah we have been staying at hotels that were a few train stops away in previous years and that's okay (I'm still looking at AirBnBs as a backup), but the whole con experience is definitely better if you can stay at the con hotel, at least for me!

I knbow so well what you mean. I'd love a room there, too. no need to pack up everything to travel, just grab it and drag it to the elevators, you can bring more than one bag, and so on. also, breakfast buffet. :9

Ahh, thank you very much for the offer, it's appreciated! I don't think I would want to go against the hotel's regulations, but I will keep it in mind regardless <3. It may also be possible for us to just find separate rooms to stay in and then crash at other people's rooms together ^^.

They have a room rate for 3 people per room, so it is okay to have 3 people in one room.

Ok so the thing is - I hear if we get caught that we try to accomodate poeple, we will all get a permanent ban on the hotel. And there is no possibility to use a 2-person room for more than 2 people, even if You're willing to pay more for it :( But if You'd be ready to take that resposibility... (my friend says that there will be parties going on all the time and people will be probably chaoticly sleeping all around in all rooms so it is very unlikely it will happen). But if You'd be ready to take on that risk, please know that there will be room for You with us :)

that's right. german laws forbid them to house more people in a hotel room of any kind than the number it's assigned/furnitured for. some youth hostels have rooms where you can add an extra bed, but those are assigned as such.
someonbe oversleeping after a room party is different, I guess you can't be held liably for dragging them across the hotel, also they won't be staying at your room regularly, so there. on the other hand, "partying every night" might raise some eyebrows. someone will cathc wind evetually.

I think that overall it will be a convention so there will be just a lot of people chaotically moving around. But i think it's the least i could offer u_u I barely was able to resevre the room myslef xD I hope it can help someone. Maybe they could stay 2 days at our room and then move? Maybe more people will offer :3

there are rumours that everybody reserved a full room for themselves and their supposed roomates, and the roomates did as well, so the like, 100 rooms needed suddenly became 300. and if everybody did it like that it would explain why hotel room reservation closed a few minutes after opening and haven't opened up again since then... or at least allowed asking for reservations. if that is true there might be a good number of empty con rooms left because of that odd behaviour.

I suppose that is exactly what is happening, but I am almost certain that people will want to gain profit from it now and resell the rooms for twice the original price. I would hate seeing that happen :S I was lucky enough to reserve a room for only me and my friend xD And she didn't suceed at doing that, so luckily we're not the case \o/

All regular rooms at estrel are the same: double rooms where the beds can be conjured or moved apart. There will be a lot of rooms with space for one.

Three person room is an upgrade, where they provide an extra bed into the room. But they ran out of capacity for those in a few hours - way before most people could even see the site loading up for them.

Most cancellations happen in the later half of summer, so the waiting list may still be good. Good luck!

What I've heard also is they will have their own shuttle service driving around the popular overflow hotels :3

Thanks! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the waiting list, meanwhile looking at AirBnBs as well. If at all possible I really want to avoid having to depend on public transport to get to the con, that has been big source of annoyance for me in previous years.

Oh, do tell. My room is in a nearby hotel, so I'll be depending on the trains to get there. So I'm interested in anything that I should know/keep an eye out for.

Ahh, it's mostly personal to be honest, what is annoying to me is probably not that big a deal to others. Having to keep train times in mind for when you're leaving, making sure you have tickets, not being able to just come and go to the con as easily and the fact that I get motion sick (especially when a bit sleep deprived) all contributed to me finding it less than ideal to be in a different hotel.

During my first time at EF, we managed to find a room at the Estrel after two days (a Junior Suite opened up and was offered to us at a discount, we got very lucky) and being able to just go upstairs and refresh or take a nap and be downstairs and at the con again in a matter of minutes was just incredibly nice and absolutely worth the extra money.

That's why I totally passed on this year EF. The fight over rooms at Estrel just kills me. Maybe next year.
I know a nice hostel in the neighborhood but that neighborhood is scarry :x

Hope you're able to find something! I had planned to attend but due to changes going on around the same time in a new job I started this year, I won't be able to make it. My roomie was able to find someone to take my spot almost immediately. No surprise given all the hotel drama that happened when reg opened.

Just curious, do you (or anyone else) know if anything can be done with an EF registration if you can no longer attend? I thought one year I saw people transferring them but I don't know if that was really the case.

Hope I can go back next year! I haven't been since it moved Berlin. I'd love to see what it's like now!

That's a good question! I just logged into the registration site and it states the following on the "Edit Registration" tab: If you want to transfer (sell) your membership, you must write a mail to reg@eurofurence.org. Do not just change the registration data! So perhaps try sending a mail to reg[at]eurofurence.org saying you can't attend and wish to sell your ticket and perhaps they can help you out :).

I have only ever been to EF when it was in Berlin so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I can tell you that it's pretty fantastic! The venue is actually great, it's just a shame that it fills up so damn quickly.

It would have been nice to meet up if there was time -- maybe next year when things are quieter! I have a some euro friends I rarely get to see at US cons, so I've been thinking of trying to do the con more routinely.

I'll try emailing them! If you happen to know anyone that still needs to reg, I'll work out a deal on mine if they will let me sell it.

I didn't get a room in the Estrel either, settled for Park Hotel Blub XD Will be my first furcon and first con outside of Ireland! Look forward to seeing all the people!
