Have you been watching the series since this post?
I think it's really great! I miss having new episodes for a while.

I haven't had the chance, but I did watch the pilot on Youtube and Nostalgia Critics review of it. Thought it was fantastic. His reaction to the reveal at the end was hilarious. Only thing that's taking some getting use to are the new voices, mainly just with Scrooge since Alan Young's voicework was the definitive Scrooge, but getting David Tennant was a stroke of genius and really the only criticism I have of it is... He sounds too young. Then again, I've figured Scrooge and Donald are brothers or at the very least brother's-in-law (Heuy Dewey and Louie are their nephews after all) so being closer in age to him makes sense. Love the personalities they've given the boys and Webby (she's more like Mabel from Gravity Falls while still being uniquely different) and Mrs. Beakly. The makers of this series are not only fans of the original series, but want to honor that and the comic and have done a fantastic job so far.

Well, sadly I don't recall there being much in the development of the trio's mom, though I think there was One episode that had it as the B-plot, but we don't learn much. But hey, gotta leave some stuff for later, right?

I've heard that some people were having a hard time understanding Donald, but I didn't have that problem.

I'm not sure how old Scrooge is supposed to be, but from what I recall, it's written as if he's past his prime, but he doesn't want to retire.

Agreed about Webby being Mabel 2.0
She is SUCH a breath of fresh air compared to the annoying original.

As for Beakly, there might be more to her than we know... there's a scene where it's heavily hinted that she's got secrets...

I've not read any of the comics, but I HAVE seen Mike Matei's video on the topic.

I don't know if there's any truth to it, but I've heard some of the people who worked on Gravity Falls are working on this new Ducktales, so it wouldn't be surprising for hints and other story developments to pop up only to have a much bigger meaning later in the series.

Haven't read the comic either, but I get a comic book influence from it. Need to see that video Matei did on it

Both are Disney properties, so that seems plausible.
