I don't have an answer for your question, but just wanted to say I live in North California. Though far too shy to know any of the nearby furs in my area. I'm sure you'll find some good groups.

i always noticed that vibe with Calif furs while living there as well in NorCal. fairly clique-ish even when not intended just due to the whole "stayby people i know and that's it" behaviors californians tend to pick up fast. x-x'

Pretty much anything in SoCal I've experienced is unwelcoming and unfriendly.

There have been a couple of cons, including the recent BLFC, where people think that I'm not even part of the con. In the elevator, at this last one, this one girl was chuckling and asking me if this was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. She assumed that I was just a regular guest. Little did she know I've been at it for almost 15 years.
