In your personal opinion, do you think it's rude to ask people to do art trades?
It used to be so popular in like.... 2008 and stuff, but now it feels like it might come off as rude if you've never commissioned someone before.
Do you think it's rude to ask someone if they'd like to do an art trade?
Edit: I haven't replied back to everyone, but i want to tell you all thanks for answering!
Now I don't feel as awkward about asking people if they're into doing a trade or not; thanks for also pointing out that they might say whether they do or don't on their page cause like, sometimes i'd forget to check that. @.@

I guess it depends on how busy an artist typically is, like if their queue is public and they've got a bunch of comms lined up then yeah, maybe hold off, but otherwise I don't think so? o:
I understand some reasoning for it, some peeps use trades as a means to bypass actually paying money to get art.
At times I think about asking, but then im like "I wonder if they'll take it as 'free art'."
I love doing art trades, but i haven't had the nerve to ask, depending on the artist i will hesitate to ask when it doesn't feel like we're close to the same level.
Like rude in terms of not checking their status first.
but if they do not specify I think it is ok to ask for trades, given the artist has a comparable level of skill.
tru
In fact, I've had a few people message me occasionally asking if I would be up for a trade with them and it's a really nice feeling!
I love art trades, because you get more practise, but you also get more art in return, instead of having to pay for it with money.
Also you get to experiment a little with some things if you want to, and it's a little more exposure for both artists, too~!
