Commission Info coming soon....
Alrighty, I think I am well rested and recover enough a month later and finally getting around to typing this, but I had an absolute blast at MDF. I was staying at my cousin's for the weekend, big thanks to her for letting me stay with her. I really enjoyed playing with her five little kittens she is fostering. :3 I will certainly miss them.
First, let's get the bad out of the way:
I had a couple of bad luck on the sunday, in which I accidentally left the phone in an uber. I had to hike back to the duplex where my cousin is staying and have her call back the the uber driver. I waited about two hours until he came back with the phone.
Second was a couple of bands that had to cancel. Night Bringer had to drop because of flight troubles and they wont make it in time to play, and War Master cancelled without explanation. Sucks, I was really looking forward to seeing them. Night Bringer, however, was replaced with, surprisingly, Angelcorpse. That helped make it up alot.
Third was the soundstage venue. I had a ticket originally for sunday because of War Master. But they cancelled, still I wanted to have a look at the other bands that was playing. Unfortunately, they do not allow bullet belts. Which is weird because they did when I went to MDF four years ago when I bought a ticket for the one day just to see Tragedy. I guess some dick weed decided to ruin the fun or the sudden change of rules just to be assholes.
Lastly, there were not many vendors like there was four years ago. While there was booths selling official and bootleg shirts, there was some record labels like Relapse, Dark Descent and Sevare. Also Indiemerch was there.
Alright, bad out of the way, on with the good.
Bands I saw:
Torture Rack, Skeletal Remains, Morbid Saint, Sargiest, GosT (I'll explain in abit), Macabre, Vader, Autopsy, Father Befouled, Embalmer, Necropsy, Usurper, Exhumed, Exumer, Root, Grave, Morbid Angel, Angelcorpse, Acheron, Behexen, Ackercoke, and Candlemass.
GosT. Yes, the actual 80s synth musician was playing at a Metal Festival. It was VERY Bizarre, BUT the audience actually had a blast and still moshed about. For me, I was very familiar with the environment thanks to Dragon Con. So they he was great!
Torture Rack were the best openers. Morbid Saint was very good, the new lead singer wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. Exumer was great, good to see another 80s thrash. With Angelcorpse on board, they were fantastic! Grave was awesome, just like I remembered when they played in atlanta 11 years ago. Sweet to see Macabre, with special guests: The Zodiac, Albert Fish, and Ed Gein! Behexen and Sargeist was a great dose of Black Metal. Now, Morbid Angel killed it, even if they sang songs only from Formulas through Heretic (I like Gateways to Annihilation). Acheron ruled, doing their Antigod, Antichrist set. Exhumed nearly killed me, they were sweet to see for the third time. This time with my buddy Slimebag jamming with them! And now, Top Winner: Vader. They slay the entire weekend even if they only played on Friday before Autopsy. Sucks they played again on a monday in atlanta when I came home. As much as I would love to see them twice, I was on fumes with energy... so next time.
As I am typing, I dont know if I will go next year. But it looks like I must since Coven, the 1960s Satanic Rock is listed for next year! YES!
Alrighty, with that aside...
Yes, I am going to Anthrocon. I will be flying out first thing in the morning. I will be at Artist Alley, but it looks like I may have to fight someone in the Thunder Dome for a Friday seating since I wasnt listed. But I am seated for Sats and Suns. The group I will be with is
to perster
and many others who will come hang with us. Now, I'm gonna stop here and do my last minute panic before bed time for my flight tomorrow morning. Follow me on twitter at Jagerwrfs to follow my Anthrocon adventure!
