Stuck on what to write next

Hello, and happy Fourth of July for any who are celebrating it!
You may or may not have noticed that I haven't posted anything for a while outside of the odd commission. Probably not. I'm sure you guys follow more people than me. That's because I've been stuck on a character that's... well... ambitious. It's two characters in one, with extensive physical and mental changes. Both are furry, which would be a change from the two human tfs I've done. And it's 118 stages long. The longest I've ever written.
I've only just gotten through the planning stage (I really should show that one day...) and it's going pretty slowly. Slow enough that my thoughts are straying to other characters, which NEVER happens. Character ideas are the hardest part for me.
So I'm faced with a dilemma. Keep working on the current character, presumably for the rest of my life, or work on the new idea, which will probably take a little shorter, but won't be near as complex. It's been bugging me for a while, until I realised that I have 27 other people I can ask! Ok, maybe part of the reason why I asked is because I wanted to get another poll running again. What can I say, I crave attention. Or something.
Basically, the question is whether I should keep working on the longer, but already started piece, or start a new, shorter character, knowing that it might actually take longer since the planning stage isn't done. I guess you should know the characters, too. That might help. The long one is a business couple (why do I always have business people as characters? Is it jealousy at their real jobs?) who turn into a dommy wolf and a subby deer. The possibly shorter one is a messy slob turning into a giggly, highly infectious skunk. Assume, as always, that they're anthro tftgs with loads of mc and the word "changes" in every sentence.
Here's the poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/13358446 I'll gather the information in a couple days or whatever.
