I can not recommend enough to never be afraid to use references, not as in copy but to make sure your artwork is anatomically correct :) the more you practice the better you will get with time, if there is one thing i regret during highschool, it is that i was too worried about not using references thinking it was cheating when it really is not, my art suffered without improvement for a long period of time because of this.

Yeah i heard about highschool stories about peaple that use refrances or like to draw anime get kicked out of art class or at least get a lower grade. Also i'm starting to think i'm improving beacuse i looked at my older art and they were worse.

Art teachers hate Anime altough it is fun to draw, don't let those stories deter you from using references, it's not about copying pictures, what you do is use references of real models or real animals to make sure you get the right proportions. Use a pose generator online and use them to draw your own characters. When you learn the fundamental rules about real life proportions it will make anyone a much better cartoonist or to develope your own style. When I had 1 art class in highschool, they made us take real life pictures and copy them exactly, that's essentially what you are looking forward to in having an art elective. I'm telling you this because the sooner you do it the better you will become. :) good luck

Ok thank you! I'm starting highschool around the beginning of August. I'm currently planning praticing on anotomy with some pose generator and sketching out realistic photos before i go to highschool just to warm up and pratice. I hope it goes well.
