Tbh i think 6-8 weeks is maximum, if customer wont agreed on more months before paying of course. If artist takes more time they should explain themselves and offer refund if customer is not happy with waiting. If customer is ok and willing to wait it is fine but they deserve explanation. Like, I did bonus doodle twice. one for that 2 and half month commission and one for one which took me almost 2 months. I got both just before important exams and customers were really cool with it. I dont think bonus is required but i wanted to be polite and wanted to show me gratitude for being so patient.

I often, mostly on tumblr see posts like: "GIVE artists as much time as they need!" and i am like. lol no? It is your money and you deserve to know what you are standing on
