I think that by "masking up", Anbessa means putting on a fursuit. Many furries say they feel liberated, or less shy, when in fursuit. Obviously, if you don't already have a fursuit, this is a rather expensive, or time-consuming, option, but it's an option.

Pretty much all my real life friends are furries to be honest. Yes plenty are cringy, and that's just all the more reason to be careful about choosing irl furry friends. :P

That I'm aware of I've only encountered furries IRL once at work.(For all I know there are more it's not like we have "I'm a furry" signs on us.) A pair of them came in in fursuits. A deer and a green husky. They were surprisingly well received by the public. Some people even took pictures with them.

Most but not all furries I've met irl seem pretty deep into their own niche cliques and so I don't really bother. Tbf, that is not an exclusively furry thing, not in the slightest. Same goes with cringeworthy behavior, its actually what constitutes "normal" behavior which I find a lot more disturbing lol.


I have zero social life, I can socialize and all that... but people need reasons to talk to each other (being lonely does NOT count) and really, most people don't care, and don't want to be drawn into other folks largely self generated drama. Because thats what seems to constitute normal relationships x_x

Not anymore. Hell, I barely consider myself a furry anymore...I guess you could call me a burned fur, but after all the idiocy and childish bullshit I've had to deal with it should be expected. I won't clutter up your page with a long rant about it though.

So much of the furry community is a waste of time, but I'm really thankful for the good ones. They make it all worthwhile. Sadly, most of them live far away, and when I'm feeling antisocial it can be so hard to stay in touch.

It can be an uphill battle to find community with furries, but if you wait for the right ones it's worth it.

If I know them, I may hang out with them. Most likely not in most cases. I am older, and many of the younger furs I have experienced are pretty forgettable.

I'm over 30, most furries here in Poland seem to be aged 13-24. I feel really old. Btw. I have job, family obligations, I can't relate much with younger furs.

I am 50 this year, got into the fandom in my late teens. The whole thing has changed so much, I actively avoid many furries.

Sure.

I don't socialize with other furries in real life, but only because I haven't met any. That's set to change, though, when I start going to conventions, which I plan to do this year. I certainly would love to meet some other furries in real life.
