Guess what- Computer problems again

I'm having the most wonderous set of luck with my computers =\ First the custom built computer my brother made is having display issues. Then my desktop (Gateway) gets hi-jacked. Now my laptop isn't working because I do a virus scan only to get re-payed by the computer locking up, thus I might lose everything I had done recently, yet again. And to top it all off, my desktop (Gateway) is yet again infected somehow by the same virus I figured a full reformat would remove. I really should give up on computers in general if nothing will ever work for me -.-; I'm lucky to even be able to get online right now.

Also, how are you doing stranger?
Apart from the computer problems, I am okay. A few family problems, and my brother getting married earlier this week. A tad saddened through some of the other current events dealing with pop culture. But asides those, got a new car for practically a steal. Other than that, nothing really new on my end.
But with a laptop I heard about them easily getting infected and accessed when online via wireless because the connection hasn't been encoded and specific security added. (I don't know what exactly since I never had one, but I hear its a common problem most people ignored)
Other possibility is if you're using a damaged windows disk or pirated one, or they're all lemons or have incompatible parts or drivers.. Basically it might be something obscure.
Overheating is probably a possibility to what is causing the problems. The stock hard drive (Seagate Momentus 5400.2, model number: ST9100824AS) I believe had the same problem a couple times before when I had to reformat the computer. I was looking online at hard drives and found other hard drives similar to the one inside my laptop but through customer reviews they say that the hard drive has problems with overheating. Though I'm uncertain if it's just the hard drive that came with the laptop or if it's all capacities on the line of hard disks.
As for a damaged or pirated copy of Windows, I'd hope not. The computers been stock apart from the additional RAM I had installed given to me by a friend to upgrade it from 1GB to 2GB max. I could entirely need a new computer however I lack the funds to attain a better mobile computer. I may have to go desktop over laptop as they're usually better performance-wise.
sorry that you got so many problems!
