Surgery

General
I had my tubal ligation done, and it went well! Came home yesterday, took pain meds and went to sleep. Woke up today feeling like a million bucks! Well...the gas escaping into my shoulder and the upper pelvic pain aren't exactly a picnic, but I am waaay better off than I was yesterday. I'm just grateful that there were no major complications. It's strange, but after having this done I feel...complete. Energetic. Whole. I have been wanting this operation since I was 16 - and exactly 16 years later, I finally get over my fear of surgery and get it done. Being a parent was never in the stars for me, and I'm so glad I am finally tied off. There may not ever be a 100% fool-proof method of sterility, but getting a tubal and having back-up birth control is the closest I can get. I still want to have a party to celebrate.
Anyways, I'll be camped out here for the next four days. I'm on Steam if anyone wants to chat while I heal up.

Congratulations on getting that done.^^ I got mine done in May then was really miffed when people here cared a lot more about a rat's surgery than mine =p Hope your recovery goes well. It'll kind of hurt for a bit.

Thanks, and late congrats for you as well! I find that the most painful thing about this surgery is the gas they pump into you. Not only does it escape into my shoulders, but its in my rib-cage - man, that's no fun.

Thank you^^ I don't remember problems with gas. Maybe I just didn't recognize it or something but sorry that's giving you a hard way to go.

Sounds like you got really lucky. The cramping has been minimal for me, so I guess I'm lucky there. Minimal incision pain, mostly the shoulder/rib-cage pain. May I ask how long it took you to fully recover? I feel like I'm recovering quickly, but everyone keeps saying it takes about two weeks.

The cramping was really bad for me. I went back to work after five days or so and it made it hell for me. I honestly can't remember how long it took for me to recover fully. Want to say two weeks to a month sounds right.

Yeah, the cramping is currently getting to me at the moment. I sure hope it goes away soon.
