Last December one of my mares had a very severe gash on her hindquarters that we had to call the vet to stitch up, fortunately it healed up quite well, and is hardly noticeable now.
im glad your mare is doing well now though, its always so scary when things like that happen to our horses.
Now, goats on the other hand, there seems to always some health problem with them all the time, and rarely any injuries. Worms have been particularly bad as we bought a new buck that brought in a strain of them that is resistant to most dewormers, which has been greatly weakening their immune systems drastically. We've lost so many goats in the past three years from pneumonia and anemia that we are down to just two mature does, which one of them is a good mother, but she has a clogged udder so we can't milk her nor can she nurse her babies, so we have to make formula and bottle feed her two babies. Basically, it seems like the slightest thing can get them sick.
But still, I hope he recovers well. Despite that horses have notoriously thin skin, they are still tough beasties.
the only problem ive ever had with my horse was he had an EPM scare , but it ended up being somethgn else. it was terrifying though XD
and yeah our goats have issues too, our buck has like three bad legs ? he popped his front shoulder out and when the vet out it back he has like a permanent lameness to him, and his back legs have bad arthritis. we try our best to treat him but he was rescued so he is completely feral. its super hard to catch him and whatnot.
