Graduated Art School... now doing other things.

General
I graduated from my school about half a year ago and had an unsuccessful internship immediately afterwards. I went flat broke putting myself through school and ended up basically putting myself massively in debt when I pursued that internship at a company that doesn't respect its workers. Inevitably, I found myself in an unsustainable situation financially, so that lead me back home to Minnesota and got work at a natural gas company, making more money that I could ever hope to make as an junior level artist, and that brought me some peace of mind. I can finally catch up on my bills, and honestly, there is no stress on the planet like financial stress, so for now I'm quite content with how things are going.
I'm actually doing pretty great but I'm not going to discounting the idea of doing art as a career some day. I have a lot of other priorities in life right now that money seems to magically resolve, so that's what I'm up to these days - just working and enjoying life.
Just an update from my last journal three years ago. How's everyone else doing?

sorry to hear about that internship. oen can only hope that such companies get bitten in their butt with behaviour like that one day soon, but as it is it will be dragged on forever, making people miserable, wasting valuable funds, and it's always someone else's fault...
anyway. a job at a natural gas company might not be bad, I guess. :) good luck and much success with the rest! ^^
trrying to be creative. went through a couple jobs as a car mechanic in the past years and now am at a point where I realized that line of work isn't for me anymore. not I look for somethign else that could build on my experiences. :P
I'm lucky that I'm a pretty renaissance man and enjoy doing a lot of things. I just know that art is the one thing I won't get bored of after years and years, so I'm not giving up on it, even though I can immediately make so much more money with what I'm doing right now.
Anyways, good luck to you, too! What are you doing right now then?
right now I'm still screwin with vehicles, but I somehow got the idea that vehicle fleet management might be somethign I like. or maybe it's not as stressful and boring so I could scribble stuff on the side. the most boring job I ever had was to watch pieces of things wander by until the computer sorted somethign out... I was so mind-numbed I didn't realize somethign went wrong until someone yelled at me. :P
next week is eurofurence, then I have 3 weeks off of work. enough time to start looking and applying. :P
Good to see you pop up again! You're sporting a great new icon btw
Glad you are doing well now. that is a kick in the face for that place not treating you well.
