What in the fuck is this world coming to? This is hell. You herd about what happened in Charlottesville, VA? Fuck knows what will happen next. Ugh. Humans: your ignorance baffles me and makes me tired at the same time.

That's what prompted this. Since the election, I've been scarce here because I've been organizing resistance across my home state of North Dakota. Made the front page of the local newspaper and got on TV twice.

We must all stand up against hate. I get tired too, but resistance is quite energizing.

Kicking the crap out of Nazi's is an American tradition. As well as French, Brit, Belgian, Norwegian, and about 90% of the world as it stands. How we went from exterminating them wherever they could be found, to a government that protects and cherishes them, blows my mind.

Every story I read where white supremacists, hyper-patriots, or Evangelical terrorists (Please stop calling Evangelicals "Christians". They don't follow the teachings of Jesus, and therefore cannot be considered Christians.) cause injuries, blow something up or hurt people because they aren't "real Americans" I have a visceral reaction where I feel like I'm taking an aluminum baseball bat to their skull and trying to send their brains on a home run. Fortunately for them, I don't own a baseball bat, aluminum or otherwise, and unfortunately for me I don't own a baseball bat, aluminum or otherwise.

Mainstream organized Christianity is terrifying. But I'm referring to the organization itself, the people can be awesome, but too many radicals. My lady is "Disciple's of Christ" and that particular group is quite awesome as a whole, but definitely not mainstream at all. They were rather happy to talk the history of paganism with me, and not be asshats about it.

This fandom is built around the idea of equality. It doesn't matter what you look like or where you come from—you are what you decide you are. I've made so many friends from different backgrounds here. That diversity of perspective has made me a wiser and kinder person than I otherwise would have been.

Agreed. "Listening to different viewpoints" only makes sense when both sides have merits. There's no merit to "let's kill everybody who's not just like me." It sickens me and boils my blood that nothing gets done about these people but they break out all the force they have for any other group with things like swat teams, tear gas, rubber bullets, and even hoses against peaceful protesters in freezing temperatures as in the case of Standing Rock. It just makes it worse with situations like that cause it's either, "It's their freedom of speech" or it's the military/police so you can't fight back or risk death. It just makes me all kinds of frustrated and I don't know what else.

I've been watching the DAPL protests from right across the river. The Republicans running my state squandered tens of millions of taxpayer dollars shipping in out-of-state police, National Guard, and literal mercenaries to attack North Dakotans and other American citizens peacefully protesting. I've worked with law enforcement on and off for all my adult life. The state government response was a top-to-bottom disgrace. The governor even tried to stop medical services and food from getting into the camp, until a caravan of citizens here in Bismarck ran the blockade. And these were quiet, unarmed protestors, not neo-Nazis literally killing people in broad daylight.

So, I agree completely. We can't have different rights for white and non-white people. Organize. Kick out Nazifurs. Vote out the GOP.

But my grandparents escaped Germany just before WWII. They were as proud of their German ancestry as anyone you'd ever meet. But they hated Nazis and other white supremacists—because they saw how it worked first hand. And they were white, straight, blue-eyed Christians!

My other grandfather fought the Nazis in WWII. He was of German descent too. Seeing idiots waving Nazi flags while claiming to be Americans made him so angry he'd visibly shake.

Anyone who parades those flags around betrays, not just this country, but all of human civilization. They have no right to come in and ruin our furry fun with their hate.

I'm also on your side, but I just want to make a note : KKK, nazis and ISIS are three distinct things. Maybe KKK and nazis would happen to collaborate, as Nordicism is more or less the origin of Nazism, but they'd most definitely be at war with ISIS. Daesh pretends to fight for their "one and only true god" ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahhabism ) while Nazis say the future is in the Aryan race (which simply meant Europeans) and the Klan is more specific, simply seeing the Nordic race as the best and wanting no multi-ethnicity, as to conserve Nords' "purity" because they described them as "endangered".

In the end, both 3 deserve to die. Coolest part about it is that these groups conflict and should verry well kill each other — wouldn't it be grand ?

Right. But my point is that these groups all deserve the same basic reaction from furries: being denounced, mocked, and banned at every level—by conventions, by sites, and by individual furries.

I am just back from having spent days in Poland for a furry convention where I spent also some days and night at  eljot001 's flat as guest. I can say we are friend despite being from different countries with different stories and traditions. One thing I enjoyed in the furry fandom is the widespread skill to ACCEPT the difference: people who came out and identify on different gender category, or people coming from different nations, languages and ethnics.


The ONLY trouble I ever got in the Furry fandom so far is rare episodes of conflict with this... "category" of folk who include a mix of nazism, extreme right-wing views and so on.

Personally I found their "membership" to the furry fandom something as deeply hypocritical, concerning how their ideological views clash with the main theme of tollerance and inclusion of different genders and Lgtb, different ethnics and so on... (I could adds to the mix of themes that one big element that the furry fandom should try to recognize more is importance of wildlife and the risk all the world animal species are facing due human action).


Having said this, I would stress how (as someone pointed out) there is a quite big difference between Nazists, KKK and ISIS: and each of them needs to be faced and understood for their differences to be defeated for good.

Very good point. Furry is about tolerance. No matter what you look like or where you come from, you can be anything you want when you're in the fandom. We are all equal.

For that reason, I am so proud to have furry conventions all over the world, especially where fascists are trying to make a comeback. Furries are the antidote to hate-groups and terrorism—the fandom is a place where anybody can feel like they belong, not because they reject others but because they embrace them. That is a very new concept. It a very powerful one. Furries are helping to save the world.

I agree with everything, but I should also adds that my situation is quite a bit peculiar. I don't like to spend too much energies about political talks and activity in the fandom as i do outside, however I already got in the past an hard time to defend my personal political views (I am a communist from italy) especially since many Americans have not a full understanding on what means being a left-wing oriented person in europe (since different background, local tradition and culture etc...).

I welcomed in the past dialogues, but this resulted mostly in pointless talks with nazi/right-wing extremists moving to insults when they could not catch up with a talk.

Btw I should have mentioned that my own mothernal grandfather was deported by Nazis. He was into the italian military and once italy was split by the conflict, he refused to join the northern pro-Third Reich government (he was not considered POW by the nazis because they did not recognized the southern royalist pro-Allies Army). He survived but died when my mother was little due ill aggravated by health issue during war prisony.

Like I said, I try to keep my FA a place where we can all escape from real-life stress, but the Nazis are trying to take over our fandom and have canceled two of our cons with death threats and promises to shoot everyone there until the convention spaces bail. Not cool. We outnumber the Nazifurs 10,000 to 1 and we get to decide to have a fandom where people don't advocate for mass murder.

I think part of it comes from depression and low self-worth. Virtually all of the Nazifurs seem to be super depressed and/or angry at the whole world. Instead of committing to the work of changing that, they tell themselves they're just being "edgy"—and tell everybody else who'll listen too. I think the reason so many guys are attracted to this is we teach boys that they should be tough and aggressive enough to handle anything, instead of admitting vulnerability.

Yeeeah, a lot of it really DOES have to do with the intersection of low self esteem, toxic masculinity, and predatory recruitment to extremist ideologies. :/

Sure. Assholes come in every color. But do those other groups...

I know you're just trying to be fair. I am too. That's what this is all about. However, Nazifurs are a real danger to the lives and livelihoods of furries who are non-white, non-Christian, non-fascist, LGBT, or even just female. Right now. You may not be targeted yet, but we shouldn't wait quietly for them to get around to you. Because, by then, the furry fandom will be forever known as a haven for Nazis. I have too many friends in this fandom that white supremacism demands be murdered.

I realise I'm a bit late in saying this, but I could not agree more with your sentiments. It is utterly disgusting that these bastards kill in broad daylight while the police crack down on the wrong people.

That's why we've got to focus on cleaning house in our own fandom. Report them, block them, delete their comments, write to your favorite conventions and ask that all hate symbols be banned.

I grew up in North Dakota, so I've been a socialist all my life. It's in the cultural DNA here, ever since the socialists took over the state 100 years ago. We have a state-run bank, agricultural processing centers, colleges, even brands of flour. Walmart can't even run pharmacies here because they're required by law to be co-ops.

Socialism is the answer.

But we don't get there if we don't crush the GOP and Nazis. They will not play nice. They will literally kill us all if we continue to fight among ourselves.

Problem is trying to get socialists and people in general and vote for everyone with a D next to their name no matter how terrible their policies are. Democrats win mostly when people who aren’t loyal to the Democratic Party vote for them from what I’ve seen. The independent vote from people who have weak identification with the Democratic Party but agree with center-Left and left policies is key to winning elections.
The kind of people who would vote for a Dem even if he were a pedophile are far fewer then Reps who would. Though I know for a fact they exist. But unwavering party loyalty to the Democrats is far less common than unwavering party loyalty to the Republicans.

The real issue is: how do we impeach Trump before he finishes the process of dismantling our election system? Before thousands more purges minorities through intentional neglect like in he did in Puerto Rico? Before he shuts down the investigations into how the GOP sold us out to Putin to win? The only way I can think of is to vote out the GOP and impeach him, then prosecute him.

How do I get that to happen while every other white male liberal I talk to says something along the lines of "I won't vote for Dems because they're not progressive enough"?

The left breaking into tiny factions is not what we need now. DSA is all well and good, but we need to unite. We need to act as one and vote out this illegitimate regime. We don't have the luxury of in-fighting. Our democracy is under assault by a foreign power with the aid of the entire GOP/Fox News machine. If someone agrees with 80% of what I want and isn't a sexual predator or something, we need them. I don't care if they're a moderate Dem or a flaming socialist or the last Republican who has a shred of honor. We need them.

So you want to federalize the internet? I do too. But right now, one party is trying to kill the internet and one party is trying to save it. We need to win these battles now. We need to unite. We need to be a solid blue wave that sweeps away the GOP and puts fear in the heart of every pathetic little bigot in this country, so nothing like this ever happens again.

So yeah, I'll work with Indivisible. I'll work with DSA. I'll work with Dems. I'll work with religious groups. I'll work with anybody who still gives a damn about democracy, about civil rights, about people over profits. We can rebuild America later. For now, we need to keep Putin and the GOP from burning it to the ground. Sanders and Clinton and Dems and independents and socialists aren't our enemy. The GOP is. The GOP is a death cult and they're eager to take us down with them.

I've seen what we can do in Virgina and now in Alabama. When we work together, and work hard, we can do the impossible. We outnumber them. They have the bloated weight of greed on their side, but we have the righteous fury of human decency burning on ours. I wouldn't trade our position for theirs, not for all the money in the Koch brothers' bank accounts. If you stand with us, if we face this as one, we can win. We can beat back the darkness and usher in an age ruled by our generation, a generation raised on tolerance and equality, learned the hard way through years toiling in this economy for the profit of the rich. The age of the powerful few can end. We can save the world.
