Pretty sure you'll have a grand time wherever you land, each place has it's own unique charm.

Dublin is where I live, so you are very welcome to my home county! :}
There's a good few things to do in the town centre, so I'd recommend exploring there.
If you're in the mood for hiking I'd recommend Ticknock, there's an epic view of the county from there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Rock
If you're in the mood for a little ancient Irish history, maybe you'd like the Hill of Tara (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_of_Tara) or a visit to the Irish museum in town (http://www.museum.ie/Archaeology).
These are just some places in Dublin that I like, might interest you.

As with every town, there are sadly some not so friendly people. You should be safe though with a little common sense.

If you go there, you can just show all those people how wonderful your trip is/was and rub in their face that you actually pursued a dream and accomplished it instead of sitting around and just dreaming

i've heard (and seen, although i've never been there and want to go as well) that the land is beautiful and the food (and alcohol, if you're of the drinking type) is great!

go to ireland, have a good time, and use your negative memories as motivators <3
