FA+

I liked back when they cycled the banners every season or so and featured new artists.
And changing banners regularly is nice, just that FA is likely not able to keep that up for more than 2-3 months. :/
Get a bunch of banners and cycle thru them when the page reloads!!!
err, I mean the personal favs like food and music.
are you listening, admins?? the people have spoken!
I mean, badges? Woo?
Won't be at all efficient as plenty of users, especially popfurs, are too lazy and don't care to keyword their stuff:/ Unless they were forced to, but still, I don't think the stuff I don't want to see would be properly keyworded, it isn't on FN, and won't be here:/
not to mention I'm not the only person using this account, we'd need a simple and handy one-click way to switch off or between preferences, but that's a different story...
Furrynetwork also has this, in the end I had to community-tag dozens of submissions per browse:/ I gave up browsing pretty quickly.
Could you elaborate on that filter a bit more? I don't think I was here when FA had any kind of a filter except the 3-level rating alone it's had for years...
EDIT: Seems the notifications is lacking the labels as well.
That's amazing, that's absolutely amazing
15S 2J 3C 4F
It says
15 2 3 4
Also to mention, I see the "J" behind my journals, but not my "submissions".
Okay, so I know that you were having trouble with mobile on older versions of phones to start with, where the menu wouldn't appear, but now FA is ONLY the menu on my phones and I can no longer use the site in BETA mode on my phone. I'll give more feedback later, but I just wanted to get the most important Bug feedback out there first.
All in all nice update minus those tiny things.
Search is currently unusable for how I like to use it.
It's completely useless right now.
Sometimes it feels like they just push these updates out then see what happens, like there's no kind of internal test server.
I mean, that'd crop up a ton of issues people found right away, like broken search and the SFW button not working.
It would help a lot with keeping up with information when it comes to commissions if you have several different clients
Would make commissions so much easier rather than sifting through notes. specially if you are one to get a lot of notes. x.x
Either way, this menu only seems to be needed for mobile anyway. Hiding it for the non-phone layout altogether might be the easiest solution here.
Having the note title and user name on opposite ends of a monitor is just uterly attroious design.
The current layout is currently dominated by the giant textbox and feels like a step back.
Put the inbox and outbox side by side in two columns! That way each is more compact having titles and senders closer as suggested above, but you also can see in and outgoing mail at once!
As for the compose box, I don't think too many people would use it since it's more convenient to click the Note button on a profile and have the username pre-filled correctly. Also you can still click the Compose button if you need custom Note.
I am just telling you this for a bigger whole picture, as the current layout can have it's advantages too.
Right now, it's [Subject] [Sender] but we could swap it over to a gmail style of [Sender] [Subject]. This would still keep the information together, and give you a larger subject line, but would keep the data closer together.
The only thing is that it would be could if u could add the folders one the mobile version when ykurnseing someones gallery *or your gallery* cause is hard to look for something sometimes and u have to go backward a lot when u have a lot of submissions.
Would that be possible on adding ? It would be appreciated, at least for me.
Nvm you guys already saw it
1. Notes: After about sending a note 3-4 times to some one, the beginning of the notes text is gone (was like that before the update too). This makes getting information for commissions difficult and in turn makes you have to search through many notes to get all of the information together, instead of having all of the information being found in each note you send or receive.
That and I agree with
2. The text is a lot smaller and hard to see.
3. Time stamps on shouts have gone missing
4. The notifications at the top are usually 1S 2C 1J W etc, but is now being displayed as 1 2 1 1 instead. It is confusing to know which is which as well as the click box of those numbers are very small and hard to click.
On a positive note, I very much like the new banner. It is nice to see it changed now and again. Makes for variety.
The section for personal information looks very clean and pleasing to the eye <3 I like it very much.
Oh and an idea for maybe the future! For journals can there be like a viewer counter like there is on submissions? It would be very helpful and nice to know if people are looking at them or not.
I still haven't gone through everything yet, but for the most part, this is what I have gathered.
Thanks for updating, it is always fun to see what new things there are :)
Edit: Never mind, false alarm
you're a dog after my own heart! 💜
Could Canines and Vulpines be merged together into "Canids", please? It's often difficult to tell the difference (in various styles or skill levels, forget the knowledge related issues), especially between coyotes(canine) and foxes(vulpine) and also Vulpines and Canines are often drawn together, e.g. I often submit fox&wolf images and I'm forced to put these into as general as the mammals->other despite the similarities (sometimes extreme e.g. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24446606/) also would be handy to add a search based on the first letters one types, the list is already long (and it doesn't even have red fox yet); well, unless you managed to let people pick several species for one submission^^
I would suggest, instead of making them lighter than they were, to make them dark, using something like #17181b. After all, its a dark layout.
Little example. http://imgur.com/dfA6kCu
Of course, this is an opinion. I dunno if others would agree or disagree.
Also, I'd get rid of the black borders around the comment box and the journal area, but thats just me.
that Ctrl + Key function is AMAZING! Hot hey that shit <3 fucking good!
Also, the new look to the dark theme is wicked. I'm loving these updates!
Things I'd like to see in the future*
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀► Thumbnails fixed
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀► Ability to turn off notifications for Favorites
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀► Ability to turn off notification for new watchers
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀► Get rid of when it says, "someone unfavourite or unwatched you" or make it optional.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀► Black List or tagging system like E2...6 ... ? that flurry furry website LOL
There's so much more i'd love to see. I'd love to just have DA format but it being FA, minus a few things.
Keep up the awesome work! |
DeviantART is an extremely slow website, that hogs badly in any slower computer or phone, leave alone if your internet isnt fast. Browsing fA would become terribly annoying for any furs who didnt have the most powerful machines.
fA isnt perfect, but definitely is lightweight enough to be displayed anywhere.
Also, why are banners displayed only for beta users now?
" I'd love to just have DA format but it being FA, minus a few things.[/b]" |
In addition, if that wasnt enough, in some places of the world technology is still really expensive for the amounts of money that are usually earned in them. Did you know in some countries people earn less than $50 and thats all they have for eating?
What would really trip my trigger is if you could fix one st00p!d issue. I can't document it because I can't predict it. It happens when I make a comment on a submission or reply to someone's comment on one of mine (all both of 'em or so), then realize I've misspelled or omitted something. About one time in four, when I click the button to save the edit, the page jumps to the top and poof! My deathless prose gets eaten by the Plectuch and I see "Comment hidden by its author."
I've actually, deliberately, hidden maybe four comments since I've been using the site. I normally use Firefox, but it happens with Internecine Exploder and even on my Android tablet, so it's not a browser issue.
EDIT: Tried modifying this comment to see what happens. Not broken yet. And the <Ctrl>-<B> works, too.
Oh, could you please find some way to indicate that a link has already been followed? They turn blue in the Classic Version.
Finally! Thank you.
I ask because I don't notice any of them working or being different
I kinda like it
It just looks like everything is just thrown to the four winds.
Until I see an improvement in the overall layout and design, I'll stick with Classic
I'd love if you just released this "beta" as a separate pack and made like an "experimental" that you can experiment on because it doesn't ever look like this "beta" is gonna be default or left alone. I just want the site to look dark while not fucking me up every third month or so.
tho i do have to once again put in my request for "character species" to be changed back to "species"... its just more fun!
for a more serious suggestion though is there any specific form of contact that would be best? its regarding the badges from the last update :> been meaning to ask and this might be a good time
- Is... the text smaller? Or did things get spread out more?
- Chat Bubbles: I like that comment bubbles show what type of user has selected (watcher, digital artist, photographer, etc). And awesome for getting rid of clutter, changing the - - - to the line dash thing was also a nice touch. XD Love the hotkeys. Only complaint is that I liked the rounded edge boarder more, as it was more "Speech bubble-y". It's all good though. Another, It would also be nice to re-add in "Go to user's Gallery" as that was a feature I used very often.
- User Page: Contact info looks nicer now. I still would like to suggest "Journal" and "User Profile" area be swapped because It's always bugged my to have my user ID art uneven to my Featured artwork. But Journals are also pretty important for announcements, huh? I think I'd rather Even Images myself, XD but that's a personal preference.
- Submission Changes: It took me a while to realize what actually changed on submissions aside from the eyeball icon. It was the Title placement. Heh, since I didn't notice the change, I guess it's nice and good. Thank you for making the site Banner not pop up on Submission pages. so much thank you. That's so nice.
- Journals: You seem to have taken away the thing that indicates where the journal part begins vs the header/footer. awwwww *mopes*
Overall, the PC beta is not broken it seems. Things work. That's good. Thank you for your hard work, and I hope to see the site continue to improve.
ITALIC TEXT
NICE
I know you can click to see the folders the piece is listed in, but not everyone uses folders and sometimes I would just rather see the whole gallery.
I mean it's not a big thing I guess, but it's a small convenience I've come to miss.
When I use them it just puts the bold/italic bookends next to each other and repeats my message.
It actually ends up being more work to divide the commands, put the message between them and delete the extra message. It's quicker to just use the normal buttons or type in the commands as I go.
It is a glitch? Should I make a ticket about this?
I have a small suggestion: Could you include a "preview button" when you write notes, journals, profile info and the submission description? It would make thinks a lot easier if we could check the layout before we publish these different things. ^^
Keep it up guys :D
On the other hand, a few UI improvement requests/suggestions:
1; Could you please remove the dynamic token from the Watch URLs? This prevents us from creating "Click here to watch me" links that would be super useful in some cases so people don't have to go to my profile main page. I've heard they are there to stop bots from auto-watching people but honestly, that isn't such a big deal (also can be worked around by a little smarter bot anyway) and I don't think it worth it to trade off custom watch links for it.
2; The main point where you engage with your audience is the artwork page - it would be really useful if it was easier for them to Watch you or go to your Gallery main page without having to scroll down, find your avatar and click on it to get to your profile, and then clicking Gallery or Watch. Could you please add these as buttons next to the existing Fav/Note/Download buttons?
Also still eager to see faves on comments some day...
I've been registered since 2006, and donated to FA, I believe three times in the past, in addition to an amazon gift card to go toward buying equipment when was a donation drive years ago. All those were before FA was acquired by IMVU of course. I'm not seeing any badges though. Does/will the badge feature work with the classic interface, or am I just missing something obvious?
But I do like the scrolling notes list, just not that it's on top. ;u;
Other than that, I really like the color accents on the userpage. I think they're neato.
EDIT: Oh yeah and whatever you did, it fixed me not being able to access the bottom of the settings dropdown due to my screen being small. So that's like... really awesome! :D
The mobile beta is a little messed up, especially with notes. But otherwise things are looking pretty good
I think these new changes look pretty nice ;)
I'm mostly excited for those badges~
The problem comes when people can't properly enter the species that they want to.
for foxes there's Fennec and other
You could pick vulpine as species and then just get more specific in the tag area on which vulpine it is, as example. That will work well enough for the search engine.
In case you want to use the browse features, then all that is missing is a space to add in tags of importance aswell as tags to block on the site for browsing. But this doesn't have much to do with changing the species dropdown menu. ;3
As for more species, that would be nice, but I also tag my art properly, too. Def wouldn't mind having other species,
especially more common ones like Gray Fox, but I most certainly wouldn't be mad if they didn't use the lesseer
common ones. (My oc is one of those lesser common ones)
Now, I don't like the idea of getting rid of the species list because when I first came here, that species list is what
taught me about so many various species of animals. I also wouldn't think to search up various animals without it.
The species list has been very helpful and informative to me.
This is the ONLY gripe I have about having vulpine all the way at the bottom. There are a shitload of species of fox; at *least* give red foxes priority! B(
Perhaps it's an automatic thing if your User/Profile type isn't set to an artistic type like Writer/Musician/3d Modeler/Fursuit Maker/etc... if you're set to the consumer ones like Watcher, Art Whore, and others.. those "Accepting" properties aren't displayed for you?
I also Agree with Magiabox as I still have a Youtube that uses /user since I made my account before google+ happened. That way it can
accommodate for all of the different types of links youtube has for its users' landing pages.
on the state of your account being banned, suspended, being a moderator, or regular account.
I don't like how under type you have put Fetish/Furry Specialty I feel it gives people
the wrong impression and makes things like fursuits which happen to be under FETISH
an adult thing.
The fetish part I feel just needs to be taken off and left as Furry Specialty
or you know just actually make a fetish list for actual fetishes. Fursuit,
pokemon, digimon and MLP really don't need to be under fetish.....
And maybe a new system with journals where its easier to mass delete. Took me 5 hours to delete my journals because i had to do it one at a time....
keep up the great work though!
kinda wish we had a new one. :v
also, how do you show the badges/where do they appear?
maybe we'll get a fall banner?
Nice~
Edit commissions on mobile is still missing
TL;DR- Blocks should remove both parties from watchlists, and should prevent EITHER party from contacting each other.
I say this because there are two people who I watch, as well as one I haven't (That I know of) who have blocked me, and each time (I assume) it was probably because of someone taking personally some playfully intended wise-ass comment I made. While I can certainly live with being blocked by some butt-hurt overly-sensitive fur, I do feel bad that they would think that I harbor any ill will towards them, and I would much prefer communicating and resolving any conflict, particularly since an appreciation of them and their art was the reason I was following them in the first place, and once blocked, I have no simple means of contacting them to attempt any reasonable resolution.
One potential mitigation for this that I've seen used is a policy of an annual or periodic unblocking of blocked members, which seems a reasonable potential solution for most cases.
TL;DR- Think, communicate prior to blocking, and possibly revisit your blocks periodically!
Thanks, and apologies for getting somewhat off topic...
When you reply to a comment, your user status...thing next to your name takes on the appearance of the person you're responding to (so If I responded to Veck, my status thing would say Watcher until I submitted the comment, then correct itself to what is set)
just a QOL bug really :P
The note system changes I am rather neutral on. I like it but at the same time I don't? I can't put my finger on what is fucky about it for me. I do hope the search option update rolls out.
Hopefully it's something taken seriously, since it makes the site unusable.
*cough*How's your arm by the way?
Both have the same problem, while the newer phones my friends have (both big and small) work fine.
(If that's how phone resolution works.)
My arm? Why do ya ask? *is rather confused at the question* It's got some carpel tunnel in my drawing hand,
and such, but my arms be rather okay. *Wiggles arms around in confusion*
My phone runs an old android version 4 which I think newer ones are slated to have either 5 or 6. That's if using any kind of browser have nothing to do with how the website are displayed. My 2013 tablet on the other hand has android 5 on it and runs the website like it supposed to.
How do you check what kind of thing your device runs on? *looks* My big phone says Andriod 4 of some kind in the abouts section of its settings. Same with my little phone. I use the default browsers on them. My friend's phone that works right says Android V6.
I'm glad you're doing better. =D
Also a small credit link to the artist in the corner of the banner would be really nice, I would like to know who made this one too.
I NEED THIS PLS
It can't be that complicated if Inkbunny has done it for years.
some artist still don't use the comic link set up you have and it's near impossible to view page to page with the current navigation of gallery images, they definately not in submission order
Also: Keep up the AMAZING work you peoples who maintain this site! ^w^ I need to make an unofficial holiday for you fabulous human beings. I can't stress enough how friendly y'all are when helping members!
like thats what relevancy should be for...but i dont want that right now.
It looks like you'll need to split the sidebar (advanced search) form from the 'simple' search form to avoid this.
Alternatively having a script replicate the value across on submit could resolve this, albeit in a jacky way relying on JavaScript.
Replication:
Click 'search' on a mobile layout.
Leave the initial search box blank.
Enter 'search options' and attempt a search from this form.
(Having two elements in a form with the same name could yield unexpected results, another reason to split this into multiple search forms)
the new design for the submission pages has thrown me off. im used to the title of the image being up near the icon, rather than the name of the image being lower and in the same white as the rest of the artist description.
perhaps that change will bring in more traffic for users tho~
I personally would like to see more, and more frequently rotating, banners. That oughta be pretty easy around here...
Still not liking the Beta, too wide profile description part, cluttered S C J F notification bar, ugly orange keyword exposure... and most of all I don't feel the font
But I'm strongly against the reversal of submission title and the submitter's icon&name putting the title below it... This will only increase the confusion that the submitter=the artist while on FA reposting is a common practice :( People mistake reposts for originals often enough without this adding to the confusion:(
before hand when uploading content, if you forgot to select a rating a popup would appear when you tried to post it reminding you that you had to choose a rating to put the image over.
Now, if you do not select a rating, it no longer tells you that you forgot to select one.
It just AUTOMATICALLY uploads the content under "general".
I feel like this is playing a bit of a dangerous game as myself and im sure many others are very forgetful people and sometimes when filling out information on a submission, the little rating selection completely slips my mind (especially if im in a hurry) which results in me accidentally posting porn straight into the SFW rating and having absolutely no idea ive ever done it
Ok, so, I'm wondering... Is it ''normal'' that accessing ANY page, since about 2 days now, seem to take roughly about 15sec to a full minute ?
Something isn't right, here.
EDIT : Ok. That's damn annoying. Even clicking to send a message or edit it takes LONG delays.
for a few months now my submissions inbox seems to be buggy at times, every once in a while when i check and remove items it will either not remove everything i had checked or it removes things that i did not have checked instead of what i did have checked... in the last few weeks this has been happening more and more often and it's getting to the point of being extremely agitating and i just want to know... is this only happening to me?
using firefox if that matters or not
Make sure the title is something like "Bug: Inbox and notifications are not working" or something if that doesn't
accurately describe the issue in short. Then explain in as much information as you can what exactly is happening.
And yeah, knowing the type of browser will help them, too.
That seems like quite the frustrating situation.
Will we see FA being implemented with something like WebGL or WebAssembly before 2020?
Won't you need to click each person to make sure you don't want to watch them anymore?:P As for going back, assumed I undestood what you mean, don't you use ctrl+click or the mouse-wheel click? it's handy for such things
When I'm on Page 4, and then suddenly get hurled back to Page 1 just because I clicked unwatch.
What a pain in the tookus.
I DID figure out how to get around it, though. If you middle click Unwatch (That is using your mouse's roller
that would normally open a new tab of the link you are clicking) it will unwatch that person. Up side is you
can stay on the same page. Downside is that the page doesn't refresh, so it's there until you click refresh.
I've already accidentally erased two comments because the "cancel" button keeps appearing in the spot where the "Post" button usually is.
Thank you.
I use Windows 8.1.
The code in FurAffinity is really quite horrible…
It is very good for something made for mobile users and functions well (unlike DA Eclipse) on all devices, although I think some things need to be addressed.
• Bring back Full Name: on profiles as some may use a name they'd prefer to be called by.
• PLEASE bring back Gallery Folders, it is easier for most of us to organise our submissions especially if we have a lot of different themes for them.
• Blacklisting like on Weasyl would be nice especially if we could edit others ourselves (if someone puts false or malicious tags unrelated to the submission, yes, it should be reported before anyone askes me).
• Perhaps make text smaller for User Pages, especially if they are lengthy and thus having to scroll down tediously.
• Blocked users should NOT be able to view users pages that have said user blocked like on DeviantArt.
• Submissions MUST have at least 2 tags before uploading.
That's about as much I can think of but I hope these issues will get addressed soon some time in the near future. Thanks!^^
