I think it was time for it to change since it had been up for over a year now. Plus it was for a specific franchise (Zootopia).
I liked back when they cycled the banners every season or so and featured new artists.

Can we no longer view search results by date? Day, 3 day, week, month, all time isn't that good to be honest. I liked switching the list to starting with most recent. It seems now it's always going to be stuck at most popular which honestly isn't great.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused by this. I'm guessing it's set on "relevant", which is basically "anything submitted within 15 minutes" followed by popularity. The option names are kind of weird, too - surely it should be filter by date, rating, type, etc., not sort by!

I also see this, and I can add that if I zoom in with my browser and go to the top of the page, it comes fastened to the top with either an "S" for submissions, or "J" for journals. But in normal desktop mode, the comment above me proves right ^

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MOBILE! (For older phones)

Okay, so I know that you were having trouble with mobile on older versions of phones to start with, where the menu wouldn't appear, but now FA is ONLY the menu on my phones and I can no longer use the site in BETA mode on my phone. I'll give more feedback later, but I just wanted to get the most important Bug feedback out there first.

Well my only complaints are that everything is smaller. My eyesight is poor duuude. So favorites thumbnails to small / thumbnails on main page too small and I personally also dislike that links have dotted lines under them. To me, the over hover over color text change was nicer.

All in all nice update minus those tiny things.

I see that my trouble ticket about the search engine not truly searching for "most recent" being broken has fallen on deaf ears. Because wen you search "recent", click on a tag, then search it again, it works. Otherwise, it doesn't really find the most recent submissions, some are new, but the rest are older, it's broken, despite having submitted a ticket almost a month ago. But hey, I can make a new one, right??

Wouldn't it be better to leave the existing search until everything is working?

Sometimes it feels like they just push these updates out then see what happens, like there's no kind of internal test server.

Look directly under your submission. You should see "Owner Options +". We may need to tweak the wording to something more apparently like "Manage My Submission" in the next version.

Every time any page gets opened, I see a translucent grey block that covers the whole page slide/close itself to the left side of the screen. Can provide a video or gif if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I know what it's related to -- what browser/OS are you getting it? I can try to track it down and get it fixed, but need to be able to replicate it.

I'm using Firefox 55.0.2 (64-bit) on Windows 10. The selector for the div that causes this issue is: #nav-mobile .nav. Toggling the rule "transform: translateX(-100%);" replicates what happens upon loading a page.

This might be a Firefox issue and not FA. I recently developed a similar issue where I open certain links in a new tab, the entire screen is black with a white bar at the top just until the actual page loads. It happens a lot with Youtube vids 'cause I'll open them into a new tab from the front page so I can watch multiple things without forgetting about them. I haven't changed anything and I don't think there was a FF update, so I don't know.

I don't think this is really an issue with Firefox, but rather an undefined standard. By default, the box covers the entire page, and the rule above makes it move outside the screen area, but since the same element also has a transition timer set, this rule will make the translation take time, which results in the movement of this navbar being seen.

Either way, this menu only seems to be needed for mobile anyway. Hiding it for the non-phone layout altogether might be the easiest solution here.

I developed this using Firefox and Firefox Dev (ver 54, 55, 56) on Windows 10. Have you tried clearing your cash? I can not replicate this in any way.

Not OP, but same problem. Just cleared my cache and still the mobile menu is trying to appear and then hides, animating off to the left. Also on FF.

Just tried with my cache cleared, and this bug still occurs. Since the CSS is responsive, you can just hide the mobile navbar in non-mobile theme, right?

Just want to say I'm getting it to. It looks like a mobile menu of some sort. It starts out full screen then wips to the left. I can see the typical mobile menu icon behind the FA logo at the top. Using FireFox 55.02, Windows X. I hope that helps a bit.

Having the note title and user name on opposite ends of a monitor is just uterly attroious design.

I will admit I did highly enjoy the compact design of the notes layout with the titles on one side and the text on the other. It was clean and efficient with little in the way to get lost.

The current layout is currently dominated by the giant textbox and feels like a step back.

That's fair. It's going to be a continual work in progress.

I have an idea:

Put the inbox and outbox side by side in two columns! That way each is more compact having titles and senders closer as suggested above, but you also can see in and outgoing mail at once!

As for the compose box, I don't think too many people would use it since it's more convenient to click the Note button on a profile and have the username pre-filled correctly. Also you can still click the Compose button if you need custom Note.

You know, I get what is bothering you... But I have a few notes with stupidly long titles where the space actually makes sense. And I know I will get more like that in the future. Being able to read those titles and a hint on what people want right away is definitely going to be of use for me for deciding when to take time for which notes.
I am just telling you this for a bigger whole picture, as the current layout can have it's advantages too.

That's because the mobile menu isn't closing properly because the HTML it's calling on can't be read by the browser. Have you tried another iOS browser like Chrome to see if helps?

Not to be a buzz kill, but I don't think a completely different browser should be required to use this website. I do hope you can figure out a way to solve this problem that so many people are having. It seems that I am able to use the site through chrome, but not my default browser. What a pain. I have a different browser just for FA now.

This is something we're going to investigate. I'm just trying to find out why it's not compatible with the browsers in question. The problem is that, without access to older devices like that, it's really hard to test functionality. But these are things which will be investigated for the next Beta revisions.

You have my eternal gratitude for the mobile update; I can now actually delete images using my mobile which is a godsend when on the move!

The only thing is that it would be could if u could add the folders one the mobile version when ykurnseing someones gallery *or your gallery* cause is hard to look for something sometimes and u have to go backward a lot when u have a lot of submissions.

I like the layout so far, though there are some issues.

1. Notes: After about sending a note 3-4 times to some one, the beginning of the notes text is gone (was like that before the update too). This makes getting information for commissions difficult and in turn makes you have to search through many notes to get all of the information together, instead of having all of the information being found in each note you send or receive.

2. The text is a lot smaller and hard to see.

3. Time stamps on shouts have gone missing

On a positive note, I very much like the new banner. It is nice to see it changed now and again. Makes for variety.
The section for personal information looks very clean and pleasing to the eye <3 I like it very much.

Oh and an idea for maybe the future! For journals can there be like a viewer counter like there is on submissions? It would be very helpful and nice to know if people are looking at them or not.

We didn't change text size on the Beta. Nothing should be smaller at all.

It's often difficult to tell the difference (in various styles or skill levels, forget the knowledge related issues), especially between coyotes(canine) and foxes(vulpine) and also Vulpines and Canines are often drawn together, e.g. I often submit fox&wolf images and I'm forced to put these into as general as the mammals->other despite the similarities (sometimes extreme e.g. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24446606/) also would be handy to add a search based on the first letters one types, the list is already long (and it doesn't even have red fox yet); well, unless you managed to let people pick several species for one submission^^

Don't be sorry. It was something we missed on our end (this update changed almost every template -- some things were overlooked). It's good you brought it to our attention. We got it fixed quickly.

There's several thousand lines of updates behind each Beta update as we make improvements. Sometimes things get missed. We're going to try to simplify Beta updates in the future (e.g. updates to one page/section instead of overall updates). Keeps it simpler, and reduces the chance of problems.

If there are any more issues, I'll keep ya posted.

Being honest, I think that using #555862 in the background of journals and comments is annoying and makes reading the text difficult because the letters are light colored too.

I would suggest, instead of making them lighter than they were, to make them dark, using something like #17181b. After all, its a dark layout.

Sometimes too dark against light text is also too hard to see. That would be the case for myself. I like the text boxes as they are since they are rather dark, but I can still see the text without straining my eyes ate super contrasting colors. That level of contrast is fine for small pieces of text,but not so much when trying to read a paragraph of text with my eyes. (You know how those weird black dots appear on the image with a bunch of criss cross lines in white? That happens) # <- That but bigger, The weird eye illussion thing.

That illusion happens to me too! I've always had trouble putting it into words but it happens if people don't space their long replies into smaller paragraphs xD

While I can understand you, I dont support fA being more like dA.

DeviantART is an extremely slow website, that hogs badly in any slower computer or phone, leave alone if your internet isnt fast. Browsing fA would become terribly annoying for any furs who didnt have the most powerful machines.
fA isnt perfect, but definitely is lightweight enough to be displayed anywhere.

We definitely need a blacklist/tagging system and some other features, but our goal with FA and our Beta is to keep FA... well, FA. We're improving the UI, but not changing the formula.

Any chance you guys will add some of the features to the classic layout for those who preffer to use that one? Blacklist, badges and all that.

Also, why are banners displayed only for beta users now?

What a way to show your absolute selfishness and lack of empathy. The world is more than places where internet speeds of 400 Mbps are the norm. Some countries dont have higher speeds, period, or getting anything better requires prohibitively high amounts of money.

In addition, if that wasnt enough, in some places of the world technology is still really expensive for the amounts of money that are usually earned in them. Did you know in some countries people earn less than $50 and thats all they have for eating?

I am a user who had bad internet, and dang, DA was the only website that doesn't like to load for me because it's a huge fat ss. I knew the pain of traveling through DA, and that slowness was the main reason I started using any other art site but that one. It was because I lived very very far in the country, and now I only live a tiny bit far into the country that I can use it now. I'd like FA to stay it's super light self.

I used to browse DA on a 32kbps dial up connection. That was slow.

I agree with that part about "Someone has unwatched you" It definitely has go to go. I don't need the blank space telling me what someone did. It makes me feel bad when one unwatches me when i did nothing wrong. And the worst part is that they unwatch you but never say why they did that. I know its to protect the "unwatcher" that unwatched someone from unnecessary drama. But hey if they dont want to watch someone, just don't watch them in the first place.

Y'okay, I'll try the beta again for a week.

What would really trip my trigger is if you could fix one st00p!d issue. I can't document it because I can't predict it. It happens when I make a comment on a submission or reply to someone's comment on one of mine (all both of 'em or so), then realize I've misspelled or omitted something. About one time in four, when I click the button to save the edit, the page jumps to the top and poof! My deathless prose gets eaten by the Plectuch and I see "Comment hidden by its author."

I've actually, deliberately, hidden maybe four comments since I've been using the site. I normally use Firefox, but it happens with Internecine Exploder and even on my Android tablet, so it's not a browser issue.

We fixed several issues which would cause the page to jump to the top, so I can't comment on it in the current version, but I fixed some issues happening with the previous update.

We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I notice that the text in the Beta Version is a little larger. So nice for 60-year-old eyes.

EDIT: Tried modifying this comment to see what happens. Not broken yet. And the <Ctrl>-<B> works, too.

Oh, could you please find some way to indicate that a link has already been followed? They turn blue in the Classic Version.

Search field doesn't work on mobile. Using the initial search with text in it results in "form not filled out" have to open search options and then enter it in that new box for search to work.

Some general feedback on the updated layout. (PC beta, as I currently cannot access mobile)

- Is... the text smaller? Or did things get spread out more?

- Chat Bubbles: I like that comment bubbles show what type of user has selected (watcher, digital artist, photographer, etc). And awesome for getting rid of clutter, changing the - - - to the line dash thing was also a nice touch. XD Love the hotkeys. Only complaint is that I liked the rounded edge boarder more, as it was more "Speech bubble-y". It's all good though. Another, It would also be nice to re-add in "Go to user's Gallery" as that was a feature I used very often.

- User Page: Contact info looks nicer now. I still would like to suggest "Journal" and "User Profile" area be swapped because It's always bugged my to have my user ID art uneven to my Featured artwork. But Journals are also pretty important for announcements, huh? I think I'd rather Even Images myself, XD but that's a personal preference.

- Submission Changes: It took me a while to realize what actually changed on submissions aside from the eyeball icon. It was the Title placement. Heh, since I didn't notice the change, I guess it's nice and good. Thank you for making the site Banner not pop up on Submission pages. so much thank you. That's so nice.

- Journals: You seem to have taken away the thing that indicates where the journal part begins vs the header/footer. awwwww *mopes*

Hmm, Must be a trick to the eyes with whatever you did change on beta. It's subtle, but whatever was changed on the profile, I can't quite put my fingers on.

I'm not really a fan of how the note system is displayed. I liked the previous version better. It let me open and respond to a note and easily let me go through the rest of my notes without having to scroll back up. Everything else is nifty, I'd say.

Oh, there is this one issue I've been having for a few days now. Whenever I load a page on FA, it'll load up like this first: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jp673mt9u.....anvas.png?dl=0 then it'll load normally.

That's not really new I've seen this happen occasionally since I first came here. That said it is usually a occasional occurrence.

The beta layout is still being updated? Looks so good and final to me that I'm actually confused why it's still called "beta" altogether! Anyway I like the new changes... less for the Zootopia banner going away, I'll miss that even if I love the new one too.

I agree Prev and Next is needed for gallery viewing in general.

I'm I the only one who misses "Visit Gallery" on submission pages :V
I know you can click to see the folders the piece is listed in, but not everyone uses folders and sometimes I would just rather see the whole gallery.

I mean it's not a big thing I guess, but it's a small convenience I've come to miss.

The bold and italic hot keys are acting funny to me

When I use them it just puts the bold/italic bookends next to each other and repeats my message.
It actually ends up being more work to divide the commands, put the message between them and delete the extra message. It's quicker to just use the normal buttons or type in the commands as I go.

It is a glitch? Should I make a ticket about this?

Though I think that it looks a bit strange (probably because I am used to the older look, but I'll get used to it) and I liked how the note section was before, I actually like the changes. A big thumbs up for bringing the folders back to the mobile site ^^

Upon inspection, there's a link to < a href = " whatever you put here .com " >< /a > with nothing between the A tags. The link is fine but there's no text for the page to turn into a link! I think the entire icon for each thing (Home Site (which should be called "Personal Site" on the page as it is in the settings!), Telegram, Twitter, etc.) should be a link, not JUST the text.

I have a small suggestion: Could you include a "preview button" when you write notes, journals, profile info and the submission description? It would make thinks a lot easier if we could check the layout before we publish these different things. ^^

Please consider taking a break from constantly changing how the beta looks and implement a useful feature that users actually want, such as keyword blacklisting.

I second this!

UI and features like this are done by separate people. UI is mostly me. Keywords and black listing is high up on the list but requires a lot of changes. It's something that's on the list.

looking again, i honestly kinda prefer having the banner on all pages... i get why it was removed from submissions but it feels kinda drab without it. i dont suppose thats something that might be toggleable on a user-to-user basis?

How do we activate the badges? Or is it suppose to be an automatic thing with Beta?

They'll be assigned automatically once the system officially launches. It's live, but not all the badge art and designs are finalized. So when you earn them they'll automatically show up on your account.

On the other hand, a few UI improvement requests/suggestions:

1; Could you please remove the dynamic token from the Watch URLs? This prevents us from creating "Click here to watch me" links that would be super useful in some cases so people don't have to go to my profile main page. I've heard they are there to stop bots from auto-watching people but honestly, that isn't such a big deal (also can be worked around by a little smarter bot anyway) and I don't think it worth it to trade off custom watch links for it.

2; The main point where you engage with your audience is the artwork page - it would be really useful if it was easier for them to Watch you or go to your Gallery main page without having to scroll down, find your avatar and click on it to get to your profile, and then clicking Gallery or Watch. Could you please add these as buttons next to the existing Fav/Note/Download buttons?

Is the badge system live yet? If so, I haven't stumbled upon any yet? Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong places. I found the setting in my Page Management, but nothing is showing there yet.

I've been registered since 2006, and donated to FA, I believe three times in the past, in addition to an amazon gift card to go toward buying equipment when was a donation drive years ago. All those were before FA was acquired by IMVU of course. I'm not seeing any badges though. Does/will the badge feature work with the classic interface, or am I just missing something obvious?

I do, on the computer. I use my iPad for almost everything, though, and I don't have any kind of Adblock here.

I gave Beta a shot, and all of the text and images were too big for my liking.

Looks nice to me, although I preferred having notes listed on the left and the content on the right. If there was a way to maybe choose which layout you like best as a user setting, that could be cool and probably please people who like the older layout and the newer layout.

But I do like the scrolling notes list, just not that it's on top. ;u;

Other than that, I really like the color accents on the userpage. I think they're neato.

EDIT: Oh yeah and whatever you did, it fixed me not being able to access the bottom of the settings dropdown due to my screen being small. So that's like... really awesome! :D

The mobile beta is a little messed up, especially with notes. But otherwise things are looking pretty good

The time stamps for notes has been off by 3-5 minutes. Putting it ahead by that amount compared to local time. Will there be a fix for this? I mentioned this on Twitter directly to the FA account but got no feedback.

Could the drop down list for species be removed and replaced with a text field?
The problem comes when people can't properly enter the species that they want to.

Problem with that is it would make the field difficult to sort. ie. If someone misspells a species or spells it 'their way' it won't be included in the search.

well, there's a whole bunch of different types of foxes. Again going to the idea of adding of adding a text box, it wouldn't really matter if someone misspelled it, people tend to add the proper species in the tags anyway

Just saying, but the tag area is a text field where you can write down the species. You basically already got what you asked for.
You could pick vulpine as species and then just get more specific in the tag area on which vulpine it is, as example. That will work well enough for the search engine.

In case you want to use the browse features, then all that is missing is a space to add in tags of importance aswell as tags to block on the site for browsing. But this doesn't have much to do with changing the species dropdown menu. ;3

A lot of websites around here have a drop down list to select region and then once you select a region a second drop down list appears to select the town you are in. They could do something like that the main box for generic species eg Vulpine and then the second drop down box list the different species of fox.

I'd like to have at least "Red FOx" listed there as well as the most common species on here happens to be red fox.
As for more species, that would be nice, but I also tag my art properly, too. Def wouldn't mind having other species,
especially more common ones like Gray Fox, but I most certainly wouldn't be mad if they didn't use the lesseer
common ones. (My oc is one of those lesser common ones)

Now, I don't like the idea of getting rid of the species list because when I first came here, that species list is what
taught me about so many various species of animals. I also wouldn't think to search up various animals without it.
The species list has been very helpful and informative to me.

Perhaps it's an automatic thing if your User/Profile type isn't set to an artistic type like Writer/Musician/3d Modeler/Fursuit Maker/etc... if you're set to the consumer ones like Watcher, Art Whore, and others.. those "Accepting" properties aren't displayed for you?

Just as a little FYI, the Youtube social box is a bit janky, since I don't think youtube does youtube.com/user URLS anymore? It's youtube.com/channel/[insert channel name here] now, I think.

adding on to this if you have a custom url its /c/ instead and some people do they should just make to be youtube.com/ so we add in /channel/ or /c/

I also Agree with Magiabox as I still have a Youtube that uses /user since I made my account before google+ happened. That way it can
accommodate for all of the different types of links youtube has for its users' landing pages.

I do believe the ~ is the indicator that says "Hey, your not banned or suspended!" because that mark changes based
on the state of your account being banned, suspended, being a moderator, or regular account.

This is kinda a stupid thing but it really bugs me
I don't like how under type you have put Fetish/Furry Specialty I feel it gives people
the wrong impression and makes things like fursuits which happen to be under FETISH
an adult thing.
The fetish part I feel just needs to be taken off and left as Furry Specialty
or you know just actually make a fetish list for actual fetishes. Fursuit,
pokemon, digimon and MLP really don't need to be under fetish.....

It would be cool if artists can make banner again and then apply for their banner to be displayed. IF they would manage to change the banner regularly, which... Didn't work that well in the past... ^^;
