Q.O.T.D What's scarier?

Question of the day:
I doubt I'll make this a thing, but I am curious
I like horror games, even though I don't personally play them. I am usually more scared by my own anticipation than by monsters most of the time, but I realized something. I am scared by 3d modeled hyper realistic monsters, but what is significantly scarier to me is lightly distorted monsters.
Take AOni for example, I am more scared of them than any other game I can think of. If you just take a pic of someones face and distort that??? Or even just take a basic 3d model and distort it's features, THAT to me is much scarier than a super finely detailed 3d modeled high budget monster.
Are you more scared of high quality realistic monsters, or monsters created by light distortion of features?

i was on 2nd life for a short time once, and was in a call with
and was trying to fix something on my avatar; I messed up super bad and removed what made it look like an anthro, so it was just this paper white, features distorted mess. I accidentally zoomed into it's face too much, and jenn and I screamed as I turned off the game shaking.
it was a wild ride : ^ ) (I don't use 2L anymore, it was like... only for a v short time -v-;)

so, low qual distortion i suppose???? + creepy atmosphere
jump scares scare the crap out of me, but build up is the worst part of anything.
if you distort things, and then make me wait super long for a scare, i become drained -u-
