Netflix's death note

            I'm stealing this from Kanada
 Kanada
Overall.... there're some things I like about the movie, and a few things I don't like.
What I liked:
-That L actually acts a little smarter. His original "lol Kira I found you!" scene in the manga made even an 18-year-old me facepalm because "Wow, what an idiot - you're giving out information that should
-Some of the actual unintentional comedy, like Watari singing a Wizard of Oz song to L.
-OH MY GOD YOU KILLED KENNY!
-Willem Dafoe does a very good job of Ryuk. Ryuk is... a lot more evil in this setting. This is an interesting interpretation, imo.
-VERY good special effects on Ryuk..
-I liked that they did ATTEMPT to make it seem like what would happen if the death note was given to someone different. They assess one of the cultural differences between the manga and this movie. (Ever notice how Light doesn't ever consider wrongful convictions? Yeah, here, LIght and Mis-I mean mia go after cartel members, terrorists, enforcers of totalitarian regimes.)
What I didn't like:
-NO POTATO CHIPS?!? HOW do you do Death Note without the potato chips?!?
-rather wooden performances. And I don't mean the kind that Kanada likes. :P
-Despite making it set in the US, they could have easily touched upon themes unique to the states. You know, like racism in the justice system. Maybe they didn't wanna touch upon things like the whole... corrupt cops? :/
-A lot of things htat're... I don't get why it has to be an adaptation of death note. See, the trailers make it look like something else. Honestly? This could be like... something set after it.
-Let me guess, you're just saying "fuck" for the sake of saying fuck. It sounds like my early writings that were trying to be more "adult". "I called you a stupid fuck you stupid fuck!"
-So Misa-I mean Mia is a lot more evil.
-"Sleep is key to strong thoughts". Sadly... it doesn't replace the potato chips.
-Nice scene in the sets leftover from Alice: Madness Returns.
-Seriously you were acting like a nice detective.... L, no. Why? :/
-that chase scene is going to give someone a seizure.
-Nice music choice at the end. NOT.
-Again... WHERE ARE THE POTATO CHIPS?!? You can have the obsession with candy, but no taking a potato chip and eating it?!
Watari definitely didn't die for this.
overall... stick with the original manga or the anime if you haven't seen 'em before. It's a different interpretation - by the way, if you're one of those fans of light, you'll probably LOVE this movie.

Bet they woulda left it in if it was Willem Defoe's monologue instead. ;P
"Light you're being watched on cameras. Now just act casual. So take a potato chip... and eat it!"
I agree the movie was pretty much shit.
