Update ~~~~~~
Hello everybody!
Just a few small updates as I get back into art!
-- I've got a few pieces that I'm working on which I should be able to post by next week (if not sooner)
-- I am OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS And I do QUOTES now rather than a price chart
-- I am quitting my job at Pet Smart and am going to support myself on my art, for moral reasons
-- I am figuring shit out about my gender identity and my pronouns are they/them, or sometimes she/her
Please let me know if you have any questions!!!!

I have learned a LOT over the last 6 months about the proper care of the species of animals we carry, and Pet Smart pushes incorrect and harmful information. Most of the people who buy animals from large pet stores do not do ample research and most associates do not take the time to really educate the pet parents on what they NEED for their pets.
The breeders that we get our animals from are essentially puppy mills but for small animals, and we CONSTANTLY have sick animals and recently we have been receiving animals that are ALREADY sick.
We have had about 6 reptiles die in the last 4 months, and about 12 sick ones who are still around or who have recovered. At my location we really, REALLY care about the animals and even if we put in extra effort and communicate well- we still cannot get animals into the vet in time, or literally don't have enough hours given to us in order to care for the sick pets AND make sure the healthy ones are happy as well.
The company has taken away our hours because we fell short of 1 or 2 customer service benchmarks which have NOTHING to do with selling live animals (things like getting EVERY customer's e-mail at checkout, which somehow determines how many hours we get to work....).
The company does not care enough about it's employees, and it sure as hell doesn't care enough about the live animals.
They DO actually do some good things, like have certain policies for the animals to prevent overcrowding (except for the reptiles >:( )
And PetSmart Charities collects money and donates it to pets that are less fortunate. And SOME of the supplies/food they sell are good, though the majority sucks ASS.
So I'm not saying like... "oh PetSmart is the devil, everyone should boycott them"-- I even intend still to shop there (but to donate every time I shop).
But I cannot with good conscience continue working for this corporation. Even with my level of knowledge and customer service skills, I still feel like I'm a part of the problem.
Ok! What kinds of things did you have in mind??
