Please spread the word. FA and other artist gathering sites will be greatly improved if we can encourage foundational knowledge in the visual arts before individual stylization. We are not going to pass judgement on specific styles, but rather encourage the proper direction of artistic development. Encourage those around you to create realistic art, even if they never post it.
As an art student, I can assure you that this article is absolutely true, and my experience has only reinforced this sentiment. I'm sure many of my fellow art students will openly share personal experiences, and most any novice artist can see the logic that is presented here and agree.

i know its hard because of two things
1)this new generation wants live action, explosions, drama, sex, ect. So the theme may be hard when anime is everywhere in todays world
2)people view anthros now as sexually stuff in the media, and the fad has dissapeared, i want it back on air, to allow the old generation to rmemeber what it was and to teach the new generation.
This is why i'm heavy with Disney, and why i'm somewhat wporried about the media's views
not like Disney needs to be realistic, since its known for animated moives
The painting is by Bob Ross, by the way, one of my artistic heroes.
Furthermore, as an art industry student, I can assure you, you will never, ever, ever land a job as an artist or animator if your portfolio does not consist of a tremendous amount of realism. Every art school in the world demands students begin their training by creating realistic pieces of art, and it is here most fail, but that is because it is the most important. Disney will simply not hire you unless you have 1.) a degree from a well-known art school (Joe Kubert's School of Comic Art and Design, for example) with high marks, and 2.) A portfolio containing realism.
And what do we say about furry artwork here on FA? We say that its great and fine, but that us artists should always make sure we're practicing realism from time to time, to sharpen our skills. And I'm not sure what stereotypes the "media" puts on us you're talking about. Frankly, I don't think most people know we exist. But I'd guess you'd be talking about the stereotype that we're all zoophiliac homosexuals. Of course, nine times out of ten, they'd be right. I can count on one hand a profile I know of that doesn't have some sort of pornography.
And finally, your last comment of "not like Disney needs to be realistic", is totally wrong. If you show up with a portfolio of all this wonderful art in only one style, you'll demonstrate that you're only capable of producing art in one style. Last time I checked, Disney movies are all produced in slightly different ways, depending on the lead artist. They need animators capable of flexibility, and realism is the ultimate foundation for everyone to launch off of.
Get a canvas, some acrylic, and start painting something.
2)With the reopening of the animation studio, yes, but you must know that back then they closed it because computer generated cgi stuff was the new thing, so animation was very small
3)thats is somewhat true, except the homosexual part, because i know gay artists that go far in todays world. And it doesn't matter if they have porn.
4)Here's where your wrong, because i have family memebers and generations of family who worked for Disney during his golden ages, so i know what styles they use
1)All of the old disney moives were produced in the same style, it does not matter who drew it, they were all done in a similar style we all know from. the newer ones like emperor's new grovve and home on the range are a different style too, made by different people, but the same style.
2)you seem to forget that again, they haven't been drawing anything lately besdies on products and even the tv shows are not disney standards of yesterday. right now the only hope is John Lasseten, and two new college students who are using the style of the old disney for "THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG", whcih if im not mistaken, is not a new style (look at the shape of the characetrs, the eyes, and the background, looks to me like the same style from the FOX AND THE HOUND 2)
On that note, i'll i see is live action teen drama and real films, not one drawn besides enchanted with its 15 minutes of drawing in the begining which looks alittle different.
3)You also forget that i did many styles, but i only post what's nessacary on this site. My only goal is to bring back the term "anthro" to disney, and by starting with Talespin, because i had a few workers look at my stuff and said they enjoy my fresh style to the show by fusing different elements and styles to one character. I may not be able to make a new movie, but all i want to do is bring back a show in a new style, and maybe show them my other work later on if they decide to go down the new moive route
5) all ready have, but i still don't like realism in my mind, even if i have to do it
