You mean to tell me theirs people basically scalping Adopts!? thats nasty :/

It's sadly becoming a big thing in the adoptable community;; it's really slimy and just nice to avoid working w those ppl whenever u can !

I've sold many many CS on DA and it was never a problem. I personally have updated my ToS recently that allows my one-offs and OS to be sold for anything and, because it's become so extensive and hard to regulate, I just ask that if it's a CS that folks ask me before selling for more than they paid. I find folks to be much better behaved if you allow it, just ask for a little communication.

Yeah -I'm p much saying I won't do business with people who are repeat offenders with this sort of thing ! I agree though - I'd like ppl that are reselling custom designs to give me a heads up if they're selling it for more than they paid for at least y know ?

Absolutely on the respect front, yeah. :S And true, I think you're referring to folks that KNOW what they're doing is wrong but do it anyways :S Or continue to. Thats true, I wouldn't wanna do business with them either if that's the case. Blech.

I'm seeing this everywhere now and it's totally heartbreaking! Especially when you've spent time on the adopt in hope that new owner would appreciate them an d love them! Not immediately turn around and sell them like their nothing! :(

I've noticed that it's usually a younger crowed that do it. More and more people are updating their TOS too. I'm surprised on how many people don't understand these things. I've come across sooooo many adopts where people don't let it known where they got them from! That's always what the designer wants! But I barely see that anymore

I've had people tell me that its okay because you can do it with real world objects like baseball cards, comics, etc. 8) Even tho holding onto baseball cards/comics/etc every day the value could be more or less than what it was the previous day, with art, there is no value to digital art compared to real world objects, the price doesnt fluctuate like real world objects so idk why people even associate the two as the same.

People who take adopts and resell them for outrageously high prices and the people who try to make excuses for them are people I dont like associating with.
Personally I just updated my T.O.S for this exact reason.
I don't think someone should be profiting off my artwork in anyway or it be okay to do so. I have no problems with resales as long as the price is = to what they paid for the adopt or the character has extra (paid) artwork with it.
There are sadly more and more people starting to be okay with it (but if you look through the sea of people, 90% of them aren't even artists)

This has happened to me only a couple of times, but it's enough to have me rewrite my ToS when I have time.
The least I can do is warn that I won't do business with someone again if I catch them doing that. :/

Yeah no I totally agree - once it gets to that point you just need to put it somewhere so ppl can't be slick about it ;< and yeah this is really just calling out those folks that are repeating offenders. If it happens once or twice even (depending on the situation), they'll get a warning ofcourse !

I hate the people that say they can't afford bills, then immediately go buy adopts or art. THEN flip those characters for twice as much with only a cheap extra picture. It's like, no. Someone else could have loved that character twice as much. ;3;

Man this happened to me. I traded someone a design I got for like $50 for another character, and she resold the adopt for $150. I was super salty. Now she's jumping accounts to avoid people's blacklists. :/

Yeah, it's super gross. I was really mad because I virtually never sell or trade characters, but she had been bugging me a lot and offered me a design I really wanted.

That constant pestering and persistent offering is what really sets off alarms ; god I'm so sorry dude ;;; hopefully you haven't had to experience anything like that again since then ;;

Oh my god you have no idea. I think she bugged me for one of my characters for like two or three months straight but I told her I did not want to sell her and would only trade if I got a good enough offer.

Thankfully not! Most people know not to do this kind of sleazy stuff. :/

Yeah, it's definitely one thing if you include extras, like lots of commissioned art/fursuits etc. That stuff bumps up the value of the character. Not this uh....yeah
