NFL has no right to complain about poor attendence
8 years ago
The NFL is upset with all the empty seats in stadiums. Gee NFL, maybe if you wouldn't raise ticket prices so only the wealthy can afford to go while at the same time allowing a culture of team moves that alienate fans by showing that teams have absolutely no loyalty to the cities that host them, you might get some more devoted folks to show up.
The NFL couldn't stand that there wasn't a football team in Los Angeles. It made them pissed that the second largest population in America did not have a team to root for. So now, after have no teams since the 90s, LA suddenly has TWO teams. And guess what, not only can the Rams not sell out the cavernous LA Memorial Coliseum, the Chargers have trouble filling up the Stubhub Center, a soccer stadium that holds 27,000.
LA didn't want a football team, that much is obvious, and what's more, they stole them from cities that DID like their football teams. If the NFL ever tries to dangle a football team in the St. Louis or San Diego markets again, their citizens should tell them to go #*@&# themselves.
The NFL started out by appealing to a working class audience. Now they want mid-level managers and CEOs to attend their games. Problem with that is, only so many folks with big bucks to go around. Speaking as someone who has lived in two cities whose football teams were swiped away from loyal fans because greedy owners wanted shiny new stadiums, screw the NFL. If their league collapses, I won't shed any tears.

The issue is, unlike MLB, NBA, and NHL, the NFL teams only play 16 regular season games (compared to 162, 82, and 82 respectively). And with player salary, cost of maintaining the stadium, etc, the have to make the money in a shorter amount of time compared to the other three major sports.
Don't like playing devil's advocate, but...
Just kidding. Yeah, I know, my college football team's big rivalry game is played in an NFL stadium. The local team gets a piece of concession and ticket sales. Football stadiums are white elephants, that's why they hold concerts and special sporting events in them so you don't just get 8 uses a year.
It's like being the only person in an empty shopping mall.
