Mac. Dual boot OS X and Windows for games (and I recommend Linux for fun :P). I use Macs at school and am tempted to buy one even though I'm a die-hard Linux nerd. OS X is great, and Macs are great editing stations. Just be sure to get a fancy new Intel model. Macs seem to have great life too. Our yearbook Macs are 8 years old now, running the latest OS X and Adobe CS 2 with barely any performance hit. No real worry of viruses or spyware. Macs actually have a decent amount of games, so my friend says (I can't confirm off hand).

Dell sucks in both hardware and support, Alienware is owned by Dell and highly overpriced (though I guess Macs are too :P)

Mac's have some great freeware too. I'm jealous of Adium and iLife especially. Those 20-some inch iMacs? It's like an Apple-flavored orgasm of awesomeness. My goal is to steal that from TV productions at the end of the year. xD

Ive never even seen a linux computer :P...but im alright with Macs. I talked with a friend of mine whose a computer nerd and he said i should get a PC since its pretty much impossible to upgrade a Mac Laptop without going through a major headache. Im tempted to buy a macbookpro because of the student discounts....i dunno. I need something to work my games AND graphics program well ><

Can you really upgrade any laptop without major headaches? (Honest question, I thought the hardware in them is pretty much set for life). I still say Macbook because of the student discounts, the yummy factor of the interface, and that Macs are still considered superior for graphics work. And with the new Intel models, Windows runs flawlessly on them. Before I converted solely to Linux, I dual booted Windows for my games. Dual boot and have the best of both worlds, I say.

Don't buy a Dell, lately their laptops haven't received much acclaim. Especially since one burned down someones home.
