Mine died as well recently. It was a throwaway from work, though, when they replaced their CRT monitors with LCD ones.
One thing CRT monitors really do well is die, though. None of this namby-pamby "stop working" crap, with a CRT monitor you'll get the picture collapse into a spot, or a really bright circular blob which sleets you with soft X-rays, or the EHT actually burns out and fills the room with that wonderful molten plastic smell.
But they really knock the spots off an LCD in terms of colour reproduction. Plus it's fun to have a particle accelerator on your desk.
