More like using it to get silly commissions, if you check out my scraps. Amazon has been hit or miss at times, believe me. Especially since they mainly got rid of the floor picks for VNA. Same here.

Floor picks are the pick paths where you pick items off of the shelves and put them in a cart until it fills up to be sent to the pack lines while staying on the floor. VNA, short for very narrow aisle, are a power industrial truck (PIT) pick paths where you drive the PIT and raise up or lower yourself in the aisle which can go up pretty high to pick items off of the racks and put them in the cage until it fills up. I generally dislikes being on the PIT, if only because of the constant amount of safety violations, major ones, I see and gets indirectly involved in every day. It used to be a hybrid of floor and PIT picks, but it since went on 95% PIT picks with the 5% in a little corner of the building a couple of years ago. It doesn't help that I was once one of the best floor pickers on the building before the change and I rarely get to work on the floor anymore.

Ouch, yeah, that doesn't sound too good at all. Aren't there occupational health and safety officers for this kind of thing? Nobody you can go to, to anonymously report on the illegal safety violations in the workplace?

Yes, there are. But there's only so much they can do and, if you look up on Amazon's warehouse, you'll find that it's extremely difficult to have a tight balance between safety in the building, quality of the items, and the rate of the associate. Despite what Amazon says about maintaining a safe enviroment, it's the rate that's the most important and, if you don't meet it for whatever reason(like having a BS pick path or poor items to pack), then you get a talking to. As a result, the associates get apathy about how safe to be and just care about getting a good rate.
