When did you "become" a furry?
I think it was when Digimon first came out. I kinda got obsessed with the digimon characters (the human characters I could have done without) when I was like 13 or 14... My parents thought I was kind of old for that sort of stuff. I didn't tell them it was cuz I kinda had a crush on half the characters (Veemon <3 <3 <3). I guess that's when I "became" a furry (i didn't really know it till like 4 years later when I found out more about furries on the internets). I guess I didn't really consider myself one till I joined here a little while ago.
Why did you choose to be what you are?
I looooove my plushies. :D That's about it. I didn't really think of being Blankie till MifMaf and I talked about what I'd "be". I thought it'd be original to be a living plushie (though I found out since then that it's not really original, just not done a whole lot). Blankie's in a diaper cuz I like'em. I think they're cute (and soft, and snug, and fun)! I also found out later that there's a bit of descrimination surrounding them. Half of the people that don't like diapers I agree with - mostly because I've heard some horror stories about babyfurs making idiots out of themselves (and making the good babyfurs and diaperlovers out there look bad) at conventions. I guess thats part of the reason Blankie doesn't "use" hers (seeing how she's a plushie, she sorta can't - so sayeth me). It's kinda embarassing.

I'd have to acknowledge the creeps part, too. Haha. Make no mistake about it; the fur fandom's great place to embrace fetishes. But in turn comes a lot of awkward predicaments. Before I continue on with that point though, I mean, well, have you seen fetish communities OUTSIDE the fur fandom? Damn! They're several times more creepy! @_@
In any case though, a rule of thumb most people seemingly forget is to make other people COMFORTABLE with expressing these particular interest. ^_^
