Anyone's cat does this too?

Hello everyone!
My, I'm talkative lately (when I'm not making adopts that is)
So here's another 'Talk to me' journal haha
I'm not sure wether I ever mentioned here, but some who follow my twitter might be aware that I actually own a cat.
And she does the most peculiar thing, in my opinion
For some reason she just really doesn't want to eat alone?
She'll do anything to get my attention: meowing, scratching things, amble around my legs and jump about, so I'll follow her.
Once I do, she just books it to her bowl and either check wether I'm there yet or start eating.
Whenever I'm pinched for time, I figured I could trick her by either going with her to her bowl but turn on my heel when I'm there and leave again.
Or only go half the way, before turning back.
But she doesn't accept those either haha, she'll come back to get me again.
So she really wants me to sit next to her while she eats, even if she doesn't want me around afterwards.
So no whenever she does this, I bring a book, sit next to her while she eats and read a couple of pages until she's done haha
Do you guy's cats do this too?
Or even other pets?
Before I had my current cat, I used to only own dogs, and none of them needed anyone around to scoff their food down haha
Also, do your pets do any other cool or curious things?

Haven't thought of doing that, but it sounds smart!
To be honest, I haven't thought about wether I'd want to 'cure' her of it, since I find it to be somewhat cute
It's just annoying at times, when I'm busy/in a rush, or plain don't feel like it haha...
But thanks for the idea, I'll keep that in mind!
Well my cat's still kinda pudgy, so I guess she does actually snack if no one's there to watch her.
That does sound problematic!
Mine doesn't do that at night, I'm not sure if she simply doesn't eat at night, because she usually sleeps in someones bed, or spends the night outside.
But I'd probably want to train it out of her, if she'd started waking people up
My youngest cat prefers no one be around.
I think my middle cat doesn't have that problem. He's a bit of a food bully and will stick his face in my other girls bowls while they're eating, and they end up surrendering their food to him, so I'm usually around to stop him. But my computer setup is on the kitchen table, so I'm not too far away from them anymore.
I think this behavior is kind of a instinctual thing, though. Like how they prefer to be in small enclosed spaces so they know there isn't a predator behind them. In this case, they trust that you're watching so they don't have to worry about what's happening behind their backs and can focus on eating easier. I believe petting them while they're eating (starting at a couple of minutes, easing into less time) helps alleviate their stress and eventually weens them off of the behavior.
Well she's my first cat, so I wasn't entirely sure if that's an actual thing or common
My past dogs didn't care, and my ex-roommate's cat was on his own the majority of the time, so I figured he didn't need anyone around either haha
My cat actually hates it if you touch her while she's eating haha
She never actually bites or scratches at people, but she'll get up and leave
So if I touch her while she's eating, she'll scoot around to another side of the bowl, presumably hoping I won't be able to reach her now haha
I can't tell you for sure why your kitty does that but if it's out of boredom and just wanting guaranteed interaction with you maybe try changing the interaction portion to you playing so she feels she can eat on her own?
Though I'm not actually looking to 'cure' her from it
Things are working out fine as is, so don't feel the need to train it outta her l 3
But thanks for the tips!
What I'd do is be there for a couple of days, but then afterward I'd go to his bowl, wait until he was totally distracted by eating, and then leave before he noticed I was gone.
Eventually he got the idea and ate by himself after a few weeks.
I moved a lot, but not with my cat
Though I did move once since she's around, but I couldn't take her with ma for a number of reasons.
I tried ditching her when she's eating a couple of times, but she's quite resilient, and doesn't mind fetching me 5 times if need be
So I resorted to just staying with her, while reading a book or playing a quick round on a handheld device haha
As for moving, it was across town so not too far the first 2 times. Then after that it was Hawaii -> Georgia where he went with my parents for a while. After a few months he was driven to NY where things were a little dodgy for a bit and he moved between 2 houses but eventually I got my house so now he has a permanent home once and for all. lol.
So I guess that was a lot more than 3 moves...
Anyway, yeah, it gets easier over time.
I moved quite a lot with my last dog, and it was a little scary for him everytime
He was quite the scaredycat alltogether...
The flight from hawaii to georgia (I had to ship him cargo, long story, so I wasn't there), I was told he didn't eat for 2 days and ddn't come out of hiding for a long time. So I guess it really scarred him (10hr plane trip).
But maybe it was a "scared straight" thing because every move after that was pretty easy.
But, I will probably never put him on a plane again, and I really hated doing that. Somehow he's not totally afraid of his crate after that experience.
But I did try to spend a lot of time training him to be ok with it before the plane ride. So I guess I did something right, there.
But I'm glad to hear he's doing better now!
she likes to have me or her sister to watch over her.. I think she feels anxious otherwise..
her sister Beeb gets used to new places quickly, so inevitably I end up having to keep her company haha. we get around it by putting her food in our bedroom for the first couple days she's in a new house cause usually it's more sheltered there with easy places to bolt to!
That's interesting!
I thought it over for a bit and I realized she only really 'calls' for me during the day, and usually between the morning to early afternoon
after that she doesn't really care and eats by herself
