Professor Summer's NFL Picks Week 3
Professor Summer, your favorite NFL handicapper is back and off to a strong start. In weeks 1 and 2, I went a combined 6 for 6, baby. This week presents a new challenge, so let's see what our glasses and labcoat (and nothing else) wearing skunk can do.

Now, if this were Las Vegas or some other regionality where gambling on sports were legal, the way it would work is simple. Pick three winners and lump them together in what's known as a parlay. If ALL THREE are correct, you're a winner, and you receive 5 times what you wagered. However, this is NOT Las Vegas, so these picks are for entertainment purposes only.
PICK 1
~Philadelphia Eagles -6 (defeat New York Giants)
Philly is at home, coming off a strong showing against a very scary looking Kansas City on the road, in the rain. The Giants so far this year have looked like a doo-doo smoothie. In a week full of sucker lines (broncos only -3 against buffalo? What? Baltimore only -3 against Jax? WHAT??) this one looks appropriate. A touchdown margin will do it, I like the Eagles here by 10 or more.
RESULT - Eagles 27 (-6 = 21) Giants 24 WRONG
PICK 2
~Kansas City Chiefs -3 (defeat Los Angeles Chargers)
Kansas City appears to be for real. They are getting strong play in just about every facet of the game, and a west coast trip does not affect this team as it does other time-zone jumpers, because due to their division they do so multiple times each year. LA had an opportunity to win last week when hosting the Dolphins, but quite honestly both of those teams are dubious at best. I think the Chiefs win comfortably here, and again, them losing is GOOD for my favorite team, so I will continue the practice of betting against my interests.
RESULT Chiefs 24 (-3 = 21) Chargers 10 CORRECT
PICK 3
~Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2.5 (defeat Minnesota Vikings)
The Buccaneers are a team on the rise this year. This game marks an important early-season test, where we will find out if they have a chance to make the playofffs. They were impressive on the road in spanking the Bears, winning that game by a margin more comfortable than the defending NFC champ Falcons did. That's really all I have to go on, as Tampa's first game was postponed due to weather. Still, Sam Bradford, Minnesota's starting QB, will either be sitting or ailing, so I'll take the less than a field goal deduction and hope for the best.
RESULT Buccaneers 17 (-2.5 = 14.5) Vikings 34 WRONG
Running total for season 7 correct, 2 wrong

Looks like you're lucky you didn't make either of those your picks!
