It's not too bad. Had it myself during high school. It's quite a feeling when they start pumping the anesthetics into you and ask you to count back from 10. Never made it to 7.

I went through that when I was 14. Had the surgery at night and got home the next morning, it's painful but the operation is no biggie apparently

An appendectomy was my first time under the knife as well. The first thing I recall when coming off of the drugs was "Oh, I'm watching Shrek."
Not quite sure how that applies but I think what I'm saying is that everything should be just fine, and also, if they use the same techniques as they did on me, you'll only have two or three tiny scars to remember things by.
