I would first try to recreate some element for the old home (colors, smells, photo's perhaps). Then slowly but surely try to explore the area and slowly meet new people and friends.

Well, since I'm always shy when I'm around new people but I will try and find someplace that I like and try to make some friends there. Kinda like what I did here, I left my family and friends behind in So Cal and came here to West Virgina. I miss Cali

I was born in Tennesee. 5 years later we move to Connecticut where I still live for 10+ years.

heh that's the exact same thing I do.

Or I do the opposite, hang out on my own, lookin' cool, stayin' cool, and wait until I can blend in enough and joke with some people until I can adopt a new friend. I've found my own little 'herd' with this tactic. :)

To start, I'd probably find myself a place to stay. Then I'd probably relax and bide my time for the ever-inevitable disaster to stike, like any optimistic fur.

But truthfully, I would look around for someone who I could call a personal friend, and try to keep my individual ideas in a whorld of conformity.
