Gideon is a 3 year old German Shepherd. He's been in our family since 2014 when we adopted him as a puppy. He's a very bright and excitable dog who loves nothing more than to play outside, especially with my father. He’s as much of a member of the family as any of us are, but as of recently, he’s run into ome very serious problems.
In March of this year, he was diagnosed with Epilepsy. It was a hard realization, but one that we were able to work through h together. Since this diagnosis, Gideon had returned to his normal life, until a few weeks ago when he had a severe relapse in seizures. We changed his medicine dosage, and all seemed fine, until a few days ago we started noticing a drastic personality shift. He was very lethargic, and disinterested in everyone around him. Last night enough was enough and we took him to the vet, and the prognosis was grim.
Gideon is suffering from liver failure, as well as an enlarged heart. The veterinary clinic was able to treat him as much as they could so far, but he still shows little sign of improvement. Already our medical bill is high, and if he survives, he’s gonna be on special medication for the rest of his life.
I ask of everyone who reads this to pray for his recovery, and if you could, help our family out with our medical bills for him. We have already racked up a significant bill as it is, and we may not be able to afford it if it gets any higher. Already it's estimated that the bill will be over $4,000, and I'm afraid as time goes on that this bill will continue to climb. I fear for the decisions we may have to discuss regarding his life if his condition does not improve. Please help our family, and most importantly, my dog, out in this most difficult time.
Thank you,
-James Fetterman

I have no money but do have some advise. My dog went through pretty much the same thing, He's 10yrs old and started coughing badly back in June, He's had epilepsy since I adopted him, There is not much you can do about this, he has seizures once every 2 months or so, all you can really do is hold him and keep him from hurting himself till it's over. Usually there is some cleanup involved afterwards... it is just one thing you have to get used to when you have an Elliptic dog...
To try to keep it brief, after he got sick in June I took him to the vet and did ll the tests you no doubt had done, found he also has an enlarged heart, his liver is good though so thank goodness for that at least.
My vet is good but they love to charge you! They Pharma-Bro'd m on his meds, charging me $2 a pill for his Lasix and Enepiril, so I went to Pedmeds.com and found them WAY cheeper, but they need a prescription, THE VET SAID NO!
I got mad and went on the net to see if there was something I could do when I came across some stuff on natural stuff that could possibly work... so I tried it.
Red Clover extract has been used for centuries by Menopausal women to help with water retention troubles. and Hawthorn Berry extract works very similar to the Enepiril, so I want to the Vitamine Shoppe and tried it...
After one day my dog was 80% better! He was still sick of course, he still coughs and has fluid in his lungs, but the difference was very noticeable!
I wish you and your pup nothing but the best of luck, he will need your help for this, just be patient and enjoy every day you get to be friends :)
