Nice guys come (cum) last CANCELLED (reasons below)
Hello, everyone. How are you?
Nice guys come (cum) last comic series (DukeLife Project) is CANCELLED.
The main reasons are:
1. Stress and health
Since a few years ago, after my depression crisis, I have felt several discomforts in the stomach and I have also become very dizzy. After consulting with several doctors, they came to the conclusion that I have Irritable bowel syndrome, caused by stress.
My triglyceride levels went up on an alarming scale too.
Even if I exercise to improve in that aspect, the stress has not gone down. This is not the only major reason for the cancellation, there are also other reasons.
2. Overcharged table.
At the moment I have in the pending table three comics: "Princess by the day, Slut at night", "Clash of churros-Digimon-" and the Patreon Exclusive comic "Grimoire of Beast". Also there's a tiny comic strip called "Moncef", published in my Facebook page. Adding the monthly rewards at Patreon, "Grimoire of Beast" is still in production.
I had to put in hiatus the other comics to focus my energy on this comic. If I finish this comic before this year ends. I'll be able to finish the other ones (or start new comics), improving my production and recovering from my art production block more easily.
3. Lack of mutual comunication and continuity interest.
I do not know if it's happening with other cartoonists, but this is a very common problem: lack of communication.
I have this problem with "Clash". "Clash" being the first one I started after completing the first "Princess" saga. Then came Dukelife comic. That started almost in the middle of "Clash". At first I could continue with both comics at a time when the first tittle (Princess by the day) comic paused in the waiting of the payments.
Then came the day that "Clash" commissioner apparently lost interest in this project, and gradually paused with the periodic payments. The last communication I had with this commission was when I approved page 14, and that was 6 months ago.
I assumed he wasn't interested anymore, so I continued "Princess" and "DukeLife".
It happened again with "DukeLife" comic but this time it was me who lost the interest to the comic. My mistake was not notifying the commissioner of this event. Making a very hasty decision to see that he had taken Patreon's patronage. I considered that with this he said he was not interested in my services anymore.
After talking about my hasty decision with the commissioner, we decided to cut off customer relationships.
4. A duo that works in single.
It is well known that Tokenworks are two people, Toenzzz (my boyfriend) and me.
We do the work together, or so it seemed at first. Then Toenzzz's work in his job into his family bussiness increased his priority, which diminished his aid in Tokenworks.
At this time Toenzz helps me with ideas for new drawings, new comics and the translation of these in English (since mine sucks).
I'm taking care of the rest, what is: Sketching, inking, color and arrangements. Writing scripts. PayPal administration, administration of social networks (including FurAffinity and Deviantart galleries and pages on Facebook, twitter and Tumblr), Patreon administration and among other things, take care of my family and my personal things.
Tokenworks has become a primary job for me and it has helped me a lot, but with the overload, the stress has come from getting up the next day and wondering which is the first thing I should do. And with that my productivity has gone down 80%
Let's talk about motivation an people's reception.
5. u18chan and my prestige into the fandom.
Starting in 2006, I was known by other names before forming Tokenworks. When people see Tokenworks, they're still looking at SaberKenji. That really is a problem, and it is more when the public does not see beyond what it did before 2010.
u18chan and other Freebooting pages have been a problem for many cartoonists even though they are considered "promoters". What I consider to be hypocrisy is they have an intention to help the artists but then end up screwing things with negative comments, many of them without really knowing the context.
I had to ask u18chan for the removal of my artwork many times, not only for the reason of Freebooting, but because all comments are negative, without having a valid reason other than "the drawings are disproportionate, the subject is disgusting, I prefer a thousand times to see something else than this".
When many people doesn't want something, they simply say it. And if they do it in a hostile way over and over again, they simply lower my morale and I realized after so many breaks in the comic, people start to get tired and end up getting interested in other things.
A TL:DR of all this:
Nice guys come (cum) last comic series (DukeLife Project) is CANCELLED due Overloaded table, stress issues, lack of communication, long pauses that reduced interest from the people and my own lack of order and professionalism. Also I discovered some ugly truths about the commissioner. So let this as this.

[UPDATE 2020]
Asked by the commissioner as a sign of peace in this worldwide situation, I’m posting back here “Nice guys come (cum) last” comic.
Likewise, as an agreement between Tokenworks and the commissioner, there are no further plans to continue this comic in any format.
